About ten years ago, going to remote communes of Son La province, it was easy to see many families living in temporary, rickety houses. Because people's lives were too difficult, they could not build solid houses for their families. Over the past years, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Son La province has been implemented synchronously throughout the province. This program is a widespread campaign that has received the support of the entire political system in the province. The tireless efforts of authorities at all levels have brought joy to thousands of households in the province.

New houses for thousands of poor households in Son La have brought joy to the people. |
Joy of new home
For the past few days, Mr. Vang A Tu in Nam Luong village, Chieng Chan commune, Mai Son district, Son La province has been going in and out of his new house without wanting to leave. Previously, his family lived in a temporary house that leaked when it rained. Because his family was so poor, he and his wife could not find any way to repair their house. In early 2025, with the support of the local government and the villagers, he and his wife were able to build a solid house.
After decades of living from hand to mouth, now that he has a new, sturdy house, he is very happy. Mr. Tu shared that farming is getting harder and harder. My wife and I try our best to only have enough to eat every day. We never thought that we would ever save enough money to build a new house. Now that dream has come true. My wife and I are very grateful to the Party, the State, and our neighbors.
