Ninh Binh promotes the value of biological relics from nearly 13,000 years ago

The discovery of a human skeleton dating back nearly 13,000 years in Ninh Binh contributes to clarifying the evolutionary history, adaptation and interaction between humans and the natural environment in Southeast Asia.

Recently, scientists from the SUNDASIA Archaeological Project, Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK discovered and published extremely valuable scientific information about a human skeleton dating back nearly 13,000 years in Ninh Binh province.

This discovery contributes to clarifying the evolutionary history, adaptation and interaction between humans and the natural environment in Southeast Asia.

The location where the skeleton was discovered is at Thung Binh 1 cave located halfway up a mountain in the Trang An World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Here, scientists discovered the skeleton of a man about 1.7m tall who died at the age of 35. The remains were exceptionally well preserved, and were determined by researchers to date back nearly 13,000 years.

According to scientists, this important discovery provides new evidence and new perspectives in the fields of archaeology, paleoanthropology, genetics and social interactions of prehistoric communities in Vietnam and Southeast Asia./.
