Efforts to speed up the progress of Suu stream water supply project

BHG - The project "Suu stream water supply system to the central water reserve reservoir of Phong Quang commune to protect water sources for planting, protect forests, special-use forests, fight drought, develop agriculture and forestry, and collect water for domestic use and environmental sanitation for Phong Quang commune, Vi Xuyen district and Ha Giang city" is being accelerated to meet the long-standing expectations of the people.

According to the assessment of the professional agency, the water source of Suu stream has quite clean quality, stable flow when brought to Ha Giang city will bring double economic efficiency, because the investment capital is not too large and this is a domestic water source, so it will be proactive in exploitation, ensuring sustainability and long-term. The completed project will ensure the supply and regulation for the 65,000 m3 reservoir in Phong Quang commune. Phase 2 of the project will provide domestic water for about 40,000 people in the inner city, 20,000 people outside the urban area of ​​Ha Giang city and neighboring areas. Phase 2 of the project started construction from November 2023 to present and the construction unit is mobilizing machinery to speed up the items.

Present at the construction site, despite the hot weather, the workers were still working hard; the sound of machinery and the shouts of each other to work made the working atmosphere even more enthusiastic. Mr. Nguyen Song Tu, Deputy Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board - representative of the project investor said: The project was approved by the Provincial People's Committee with a total adjusted investment of more than 323 billion VND. In order for the project to be implemented on schedule and ensure the disbursement rate, the investor coordinated with departments and branches to complete all procedures, clear the site and regularly urge the construction unit to proactively overcome difficulties, determined to "overcome the sun and win the rain" to soon put the project into operation.

Phase 1 of the project has a total investment of over 155 billion VND, including the following items: Head dam, D400 steel pipeline leading water from the dam to the regulating lake with a total length of 5,896m; operation management road to the pumping station with a length of 1,107m; transfer pumping station with a capacity of 10,000m3/day and night; receiving lake with a capacity of 65,000m3; power system serving the 22kV line pumping station and transformer station with control and lighting systems; lighting system for the receiving lake area; management house. Phase 2 has a scale including: Standard clean water system, 4 water treatment clusters with a capacity of 2,500m3/day and night each; pressure tank with a capacity of 20,000m3; water supply pipeline from the treatment station to Ha Giang city with a length of 9,720m; Pipeline from the receiving lake to Phong Quang commune center, length 3,718m; operation management road from the pumping station to the receiving lake, length 763m; 1 water tank at Phong Quang central market, capacity 76m3; auxiliary items such as chemical storage house, treatment station yard, gate, protective fence; road to the treatment area.

A representative of Thong Nhat Company Limited - the contractor said: Although the project's items are constructed on high mountainous terrain with steep slopes; affected by natural disasters and floods, with great efforts and determination, the unit has mobilized human resources and machinery to speed up the progress, so far, phase 1 has completed the main items, completed the electrical connection work and is preparing to install pump equipment for testing. Although phase 2 only started construction in November 2023, by the end of April 2025, the completed volume reached about 125 billion VND, reaching 85% of the construction contract value.

With the active participation of relevant departments, branches and units, by the end of April 2025, the progress of the entire project reached 79%. Completed items include: Water supply pipeline from the treatment plant to the city; pipeline from the receiving lake to the center of Phong Quang commune. Determined to put the project into use in August 2025, the contractor is focusing on constructing the treatment area and tank; clean water treatment equipment system; constructing concrete lining, processing steel for the bottom and walls of the water tank; focusing on paving the road. On the other hand, relevant departments and branches proposed an operation management plan for Ha Giang Province Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company; the Department of Agriculture and Environment manages, uses and exploits clean water supply infrastructure assets according to current regulations.

The Suu Stream Water Supply System Project is expected to provide a stable source of clean water for daily life and production, but to ensure sustainability, it is necessary to pay attention to the care and protection of upstream forests; water quality management, especially the need to assess the impact as well as problems arising related to water sources after the project is put into operation. This will avoid wasting investment and causing damage to people's lives and business operations.
