Ly Tuong Vy, a 9th grade student at Le Quy Don Secondary School.

As the ocean, the letter reads: Here, look at this Moray Eel. After biting the sharp hook on the end of the abandoned fishing line, the fish became more entangled in the hook as it struggled to free itself. Each turn of the line caused the animal to suffocate to death...

Far away is the town of Mihama, Fukui Prefecture, Japan. There is a dolphin that makes thousands of different sounds every day. All the creatures in the ocean call those sounds the sounds of loneliness. Dory often talks to himself because his entire family was massacred by humans with explosive harpoons while out on a trip.

Two tiny anchovies near the Pacific coast are hastily grabbing cigarette butts to eat. They mistake them for prey.

Do you see the seahorse on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean swimming heavily over there, looking at its curved tail dragging a faded medical mask, it's so pitiful.

These sea turtles in the state of Florida, USA, are competing to swallow plastic bags, thinking they are soft jellyfish"...

With an engaging storytelling style, Tuong Vy leads readers to explore and experience the lives of marine creatures and the pain they suffer every day.

“Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter explaining why and how people need to protect you” is the theme of the 54th UPU International Letter Writing Competition. Sharing about the theme of the contest, Tuong Vy said: “I have participated in the UPU International Letter Writing Competition 4 times, each topic is interesting, each has its own unique features. But the theme of this contest makes me “lose sleep” the most because when I read the theme, the image of the report “Threats of sea turtle breeding season” that I have seen kept appearing in my mind. I remembered the image of marine creatures being seriously affected by the impact of humans, the environment, the climate... It urged me to write a letter to express the “pain” of marine creatures, and at the same time awaken and raise awareness of each person about the importance of protecting the ocean”.

Tuong Vy's letter surpassed more than 126,000 entries in the province to win the highest prize thanks to the use of soaring imagination and unlimited creativity to tell stories, confide, remind people about the role of the ocean as well as share specific solutions and actions to protect the ocean, sea and marine ecosystem; demonstrating the responsibility of the young generation in preserving nature, for sustainable development.

“When I attended the award ceremony of the 53rd UPU International Letter Writing Competition, I saw the theme of the 54th competition on the mockup. Right then, an idea popped into my head of what I would write, many ideas, many stories about the ocean piled up in my head,” Tuong Vy shared.

According to Tuong Vy, protecting the environment requires many actions, even small ones, but if done every day, it will bring great results: "I often fix leaking faucets in the house with my father; with family members take advantage of natural light, use energy-saving light bulbs; limit the use of disposable plastic items; with friends at school keep the public clean, participate in environmental protection propaganda"...

Sharing about her dream, Tuong Vy said: “I love journalism and dream of becoming a reporter. I am ready to capture every movement of life around me, I like to rush to find news, I want to record simple moments, I want to write my thoughts on the problems that still exist in life... I want to use my writings and reports to call on everyone on earth to always live and act for a green, clean and vibrant world.”

Proud of her young student, teacher Nguyen Thi Hong Dieu, a Literature teacher at Le Quy Don Secondary School, said: “Tuong Vy has a great talent for Literature. She is a member of the Literature team of the school and the old town of Bim Son. Tuong Vy also won the consolation prize in the 52nd UPU International Letter Writing Competition when she was in grade 7, second prize in grade 8 and first prize this year. As Tuong Vy’s Literature teacher, I have seen her progress over the years thanks to her constant learning, improvement and efforts to overcome her own limits.”
