The first issue of Nhan Dan Newspaper was printed

The Vietnamese revolutionary press has gone through a century of struggle and development, from the first pages printed in black ink on newspaper to today's digital age. In that flow, there are places that have become historical milestones, preserving the sacred mark of revolutionary journalists. One of them is Khuon Nha hamlet, Quy Ky commune (Dinh Hoa) - where Nhan Dan newspaper printed its first issue during the resistance war against the French.

On March 11, 1951, in the mountains and forests of Viet Bac, the first issue of Nhan Dan newspaper was printed using a typo printer. This was the direct result of the Second National Party Congress (February 1951) - the time when the Indochinese Communist Party openly operated under the name of the Vietnam Workers' Party, needing an official mouthpiece to propagate the Party's guidelines and policies.

From here, Nhan Dan Newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Party, the voice of the Party, the State and the people - was officially born, contributing to the continuous flow of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism throughout the period of resistance and national construction. During the arduous years of resistance, the newspaper's cadres and reporters had to work in extremely deprived and dangerous conditions, but the spirit of "writing in the trenches, printing in the deep forests" was always burning.

Today, the site where the first issue of Nhan Dan Newspaper was printed has been recognized as a National Historical Relic, with a solemn Monument Stele and the Khuon Nha Hamlet Cultural House and Quy Ky Kindergarten built within the relic site. However, for this relic to truly become a "red address" in the journey of traditional education, many opinions say that there needs to be more systematic investment in the work of preserving and promoting its value.

Mr. Luan Duc Quynh, Chairman of Quy Ky Commune People's Committee, shared: The locality is very honored to mark an important milestone of revolutionary journalism. Over the years, the commune has always paid attention to the work of preserving and embellishing the relic site. However, due to limited financial and human resources, we hope that all levels and sectors will pay more attention so that this place can truly become a destination for educating revolutionary traditions for the younger generation and a highlight in the journey back to the source.

Mr. Luan Duc Quynh: Quy Ky Commune has integrated the propaganda of relic values into the activities of unions, schools and important historical anniversaries, especially the annual Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day on June 21.

According to the representative of Quy Ky Commune People's Committee, in the long-term plan, the relic will be closely connected with other revolutionary sites at ATK Dinh Hoa, Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School... to form a "back to the source" tour associated with the history of revolutionary journalism.

In addition, the digitization of documents, the production of documentary films, and the organization of thematic exhibitions are also being coordinated by specialized units. The goal is for today's generation to not only know about the place where Nhan Dan Newspaper printed its first issue through books, but also to be able to "touch history" through vivid real-life experiences.

The 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day is an occasion to honor journalists over the past century - those who have used their pens as sharp weapons for the ideals of national independence and people's freedom. At the same time, this is also a time to look back, appreciate and promote the sacred values of historical journalism sites - as an inseparable part of the journalism profession.

In the green forest of Quy Ky in the past, the sound of printing machines echoed in the night, carrying the revolutionary spirit spreading throughout the country. Today, that place needs to be preserved as a living symbol of the journey of Vietnam's revolutionary press - a journey that has never stopped and will continue to accompany the development of the country.
