Female student 'other people's child' studies well, sings well, is valedictorian of national excellent students

"Impressive" achievement list since middle school

Thao Nguyen began her outstanding education from junior high school at the prestigious Hanoi Star Inter-level School, class A0. Not only outstanding for her excellent academic achievements, Thao Nguyen is also loved for her modesty and impressive learning ability.

During the summer vacation from grade 7 to grade 8, Thao Nguyen tried her hand at the IELTS exam and achieved 8.0 on her first attempt. In the exam to select excellent grade 9 students in Hanoi, Thao Nguyen won first prize and was also the city's valedictorian in Biology.

With this achievement, she was admitted directly to many specialized high schools, but decided to choose Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted to study.

At high school, under the guidance of teachers and her own constant efforts, Thao Nguyen continued to reap many remarkable achievements.

In 10th grade, she won first prize in the school-wide excellent student selection exam. She also studied on her own and conquered the SAT exam with a score of 1530/1600 (the score achieved by the top 1% of the world's best candidates) on her first attempt.

In grade 11, Thao Nguyen took the exam "above a level" and won first prize in the national exam for excellent students in Biology, took the SAT a second time and raised her score to 1560/1600. She also took the IELTS a second time and achieved 8.5.

Entering grade 12, the female student not only continued to win first prize but also excelled with the position of valedictorian nationwide in the 2025 national exam for excellent students in Biology.

In the eyes of teachers and friends, Thao Nguyen not only stands out with her excellent achievements, but is also a strong inspiration because of her self-study spirit, passion and ability to overcome challenges.

Teachers and friends admire Thao Nguyen more for her humility and ability to overcome failure. In 10th grade, the female student did not achieve good results in the Northern Coastal Excellent Student Exam. However, instead of being discouraged, she quickly regained her focus, studied seriously, made more efforts and continuously conquered new heights.

Teachers at the Hanoi National University of Education High School commented that Thao Nguyen is not a student who studies by “plowing”. The 10X always focuses on listening to lectures in class to understand and remember knowledge; therefore, when she gets home, she does not waste time reviewing old lessons but focuses on expanding and deepening her knowledge. The female student often chooses to watch videos about biological processes on YouTube to thoroughly understand the problem.

Besides, Thao Nguyen uses the “flashcard” learning method to remember the theory for a long time. She also often writes down knowledge twice (once in class, once to summarize at home). Thao Nguyen often discusses knowledge and exercises with her friends to consolidate thinking and train memory, thereby also helping to increase reflexes when entering exams.

Multi-talented female student

In addition to being a good student, Thao Nguyen knows how to play some musical instruments such as guitar, piano and is an outstanding singer of the Music Club of Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted. She also often participates in many school events.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, homeroom teacher of Biology class 12, shared that he is very proud to have an excellent student, a typical “other people’s child” like Thao Nguyen. According to Mr. Cong, Thao Nguyen is a person who knows how to organize time effectively and has very good leadership skills.

“Thao Nguyen is special in that she only studies at school and self-study at home, without attending extra classes like many other students. The important thing is that she has a good learning method, can generalize knowledge, memorize systematically and apply it well to solve practical problems.

She also balances her study time and leisure time, using her musical talents to participate in club and school activities. As a deputy class monitor, Thao Nguyen has led the Biology class 56 of the Pedagogical High School to achieve many impressive academic achievements," said Mr. Cong.
