While studying and fighting against facial nerve paralysis, Nguyen Thuy Duong (12A8 student, Hong Linh High School) has excelled and become one of the five top students in block C00 of Ha Tinh. Duong's total score of 3 subjects is 29.5 points, including 9.75 in Literature; 9.75 in History and 10 points in Geography.

For the past 2 years, Thuan Son village (Thuan Loc commune, Hong Linh town) has been happy to welcome another valedictorian in the province at the High School Graduation Exam. Coming to share the joy with the family, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong (54 years old) could not hide his joy: "This morning, when we heard the score announcement, everyone in the neighborhood was excited to watch. Hearing that my child got a high score, I and everyone else were extremely happy. 2 years ago, in the village, Tien Manh also got the valedictorian in the province in this subject."

Sharing her feelings, Thuy Duong said that she did her exams quite well, and at the end of the exam, she confidently predicted that she would get over 9 points in all subjects. However, in the History exam, she was careless and made a mistake on a fairly easy question. This made Duong feel a bit regretful when the scores were announced.

A perfect score of 10 in Geography was not beyond Duong's expectations, because this is his favorite subject. This subject has also brought him a collection of provincial excellent student awards from grades 9 to 12, including third prize in provincial excellent student awards in grades 9, 10, 12; second prize in grade 11. In addition, Duong also said that he really likes Literature. Duong said that if he allocates his time reasonably, he will have more good evidence in his essay.

"I am very happy with this result and quite surprised to know that I am one of the 5 top students in block C00 in the whole province," Thuy Duong shared.

Persistent effort

But few people know that behind the sweet fruits is the persistent effort to overcome herself of the female student of Hong Linh High School.

Duong’s mother, Ms. Tran Thi Oanh (born in 1979), said that when she was in 9th grade, Duong’s face suddenly became stiff and she could not move. All activities such as laughing, talking, and turning were difficult. Doctors said she had facial nerve paralysis and needed months of treatment in the hospital.

Behind the high achievements are the tireless efforts of the little student.

In the summer of 11th grade, the disease relapsed again. So, instead of spending time reviewing for the final year, Duong spent the entire summer in the hospital. In 12th grade, during stressful study times, the disease reappeared, which greatly affected the review process of the female student at Hong Linh High School. Determined that the disease would continue to follow her, Duong outlined for herself a reasonable schedule to both supplement knowledge and ensure health.

Thuy Duong said that during the learning and reviewing process, she divided her time into specific time slots for each subject. This helps her to be proactive with her time and motivated when reviewing, reducing pressure and inefficiency...

Instead of memorizing, Duong tried to read and understand the content of each subject. In the final days before the high school graduation exam, Thuy Duong focused on reviewing the weak parts of her knowledge by reviewing the questions to minimize mistakes when doing the test.

In addition, Duong always pays attention to her health, does not study past 11pm, to avoid affecting her nerves. When she feels stressed, she rewards herself with relaxing moments such as listening to music, going out or having a good night's sleep. Thanks to these "tips" in her pocket, Thuy Duong has successfully conquered the exams at the High School Graduation Exam.

In particular, in addition to being a good student, Thuy Duong is also an active and enthusiastic class officer. “Thuy Duong is a well-rounded student, both intelligent and enthusiastic in school activities. Hopefully with this result, she will achieve her dreams and aspirations at her dream school”, informed teacher Nguyen Thi Quynh Giang - homeroom teacher of class 12A8, Hong Linh High School.

It is known that Thuy Duong is waiting for the results of the People's Police Academy's capacity assessment to fulfill her dream of becoming a policewoman.
