Today (October 23), the People's Committee of Xuan Truong Commune, Da Lat City worked with representatives of Xuan Truong Solid Waste Treatment Plant about a large amount of waste from the plant's landfill spilling onto the coffee gardens of people below.

This waste treatment plant is located on a hill in Xuan Truong commune, about 28 hectares wide, invested by Green Energy Company Limited, and put into operation since 2015. This facility collects 100% of Da Lat city's waste for processing, producing plastic pellets, bio-fertilizers, block bricks, etc.

Previously, heavy rain that lasted from the evening of October 22 to the early morning of October 23 caused the garbage in the factory's dump to overflow. Dozens of tons of solid waste collapsed below, burying many pine trees and about 2,000 square meters of coffee growing land of the people.
In addition, water from the landfill leaked and flowed down the stream at the foot of the hill, polluting the area and giving off a foul smell.

After people's complaints, local authorities and Da Lat City People's Committee inspected the situation and clarified the matter.
Initially, the People's Committee of Xuan Truong Commune requested the factory to handle the scene, move the dumped waste to the collection area, and build a wall system to prevent landslides. At the same time, the authorities required the enterprise to inspect and compensate for agricultural damage to the people affected by the incident.
