Why doesn't FAM use the mountain of money used to sue FIFA for something more useful?

Former Malaysian football players and officials continue to advise the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) not to sue FIFA at CAS, at least with the weak evidence that Malaysian football currently possesses.

FAM has no basis to win FIFA

Except for the current FAM officials, the country's football community in general has little hope that FAM will win the case against FIFA, if they file a lawsuit with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), regarding the case of 7 naturalized players using fake documents. The reason former players, former football officials, and Malaysian sports journalists do not believe in FAM's ability to win the case is based on the weak evidence that FAM is holding regarding the origin records of the naturalized players.

Most recently, Malaysian journalist Ajitpal Singh analyzed in the New Straits Times : "On paper, the 7 naturalized players are Malaysian, but their original records do not show that. FIFA not only checked the passports but also checked the origins of the registered players, and examined the records of the grandparents of the players involved. At this point, the scandal of Malaysian football began to be discovered."

According to this journalist, FAM has deceived Malaysian football fans, that is the most important thing to talk about. The journalist said: "Fans can forgive failure, but cannot forgive being deceived." And that is currently the problem that makes Malaysian experts and fans no longer believe in FAM. For many months, they have continuously asked FAM to publicly disclose the original records of the 7 naturalized players who were recently suspended by FIFA, but FAM did not disclose them until these records were announced to the world by FIFA. On November 13, FIFA will provide all the evidence to FAM and it is unclear whether FAM still intends to sue FIFA?

Avoid doing useless things, Malaysian football should know how to stand up from mistakes

Former FAM Secretary General Datuk Seri Azzuddin Ahmad analyzed: "FAM should not pursue the FIFA lawsuit at CAS based on the current legal evidence that both sides have. In fact, suing FIFA at CAS will increase the cost for Malaysian football. This lawsuit will cost FAM millions of ringgit (1 million ringgit is equivalent to 6.3 billion VND - PV). Instead of using that money for litigation, FAM should use those millions of ringgit more effectively, for example, to develop community football. The mountain of money must be used in the right place, for the benefit of football development."

Meanwhile, former Malaysian football star Safee Sali warned: "Confronting FIFA at CAS may not be effective. Before taking action, FAM should reconsider whether this action is right or not? Do we have enough documents to win against FIFA at CAS? Instead of trying to sue, we should admit our mistakes and rise from this mistake."

The mistake that Malaysian football has made over the years is not focusing on developing young players, but only paying attention to the massive naturalization of foreign players, with the desire to "burn the stage". Therefore, according to Malaysian football, pursuing a lawsuit to CAS is both costly and potentially useless, while this football should be mentally prepared, financially prepared, and dedicated to doing more beneficial things for development from the foundation.
