OIF deploys "Talent Eco-Destination" project in Vietnam

NDO - The project "Talented Eco-Destination" will be piloted in 4 countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Comoros and Cabo Verde, to promote sustainable tourism development and preserve cultural heritage.

On May 6, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Ha Van Sieu had a meeting and worked with representatives of the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).

Sharing about the project “Talent Eco-Destination”, Mr. Edgar Doerig, Chief Representative of OIF Asia- Pacific Regional Office, said that this is one of the projects that OIF is implementing in the period 2025-2028.

"The project aims to create jobs and income for youth, women and rural and suburban communities by improving their skills througheducation and training activities, as well as supporting the development and promotion of sustainable tourism services. Through that, it promotes sustainable tourism development and cultural heritage preservation," Mr. Edgar Doerig informed.

The project will initially be piloted in four countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Comoros and Cabo Verde. It will then be expanded to other countries through close consultation with stakeholders.

According to Mr. Edgar Doerig, during the pilot phase in Vietnam, the two sides will jointly research and select a location to establish a project implementation center. This will be a place with many French-speaking tourists and a concentration of the Francophone community.

OIF implements the project

Deputy Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu highly appreciated OIF's initiatives.

The “Talented Eco-Destination” project will focus on three main pillars, including: education, vocational training, specialization and capacity building of tourism stakeholders; development, promotion and exploitation of sustainable tourism products; building and maintaining a dynamic network of partners dedicated to sustainable tourism.

Appreciating the initiatives of the International Organization of the Francophone, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu hopes that the project “Talented Eco-Destination” will open up job opportunities and improve tourism capacity. Thereby, preserving and promoting indigenous cultural values, promoting sustainable tourism activities.

The success of the project will also be an opportunity to replicate this model. Localities will learn, exchange and share experiences for mutual development. Accordingly, it is necessary to form a network of countries participating in the project to connect widely to introduce and promote tourism together, targeting the French-speaking tourist market.

"The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will accompany and closely coordinate with OIF in this project. At the same time, it is proposed that in the coming time, the two sides will have more specific discussions on the implementation content, as well as choosing a location to place the project implementation center," Mr. Ha Van Sieu expressed his wish.

The project “Eco-Talent Destination” was researched by many highly experienced experts from stakeholders in the Francophone community. OIF plans to establish many centers located in promotion offices and local tourism establishments.

Each center is designed as a multifunctional community space dedicated to sustainable tourism, thereby introducing and providing information about attractive eco-tourism destinations and promoting the spread of French.
