Having just returned to the task of directing the tactics of the Hanoi Police Club (replacing head coach Gong Oh-kyun who was stripped of his position), Mr. Tran Tien Dai immediately became the highlight. However, the most prominent mark of this technical director is the image of disorganization and disregard for the rules at Hang Day Stadium.
On the evening of December 26, Hanoi Police Club defeated Binh Duong Club with a score of 3-0. The victory after 4 consecutive matches of draws and losses of the defending champion team was not noticed by the unsightly behavior of Mr. Tran Tien Dai. In the 71st minute, this coach rushed onto the field to fight with the main referee Nguyen Viet Duan.
Mr. Tran Tien Dai was given a red card.
With this action, Mr. Dai received a direct red card. However, the technical director of the Hanoi Police Club did not leave the field but stayed in the technical area for about 5 minutes. He even calmly directed and instructed his student Ho Tan Tai before this defender entered the field as a substitute.
Only when the match supervisor reminded him did technical director Tran Tien Dai accept the punishment and go to the stands behind the home team's cabin. After that, Mr. Dai continued to "bend the rules" by calling his assistant to stand close to this stand area. Every time the technical director gave instructions, the assistant would move back to the technical area and convey them to the players a few meters away.
Coach Tran Tien Dai left an ugly image.
This is not the first time Mr. Tran Tien Dai has violated the tournament's regulations and been banned from coaching. Even the technical director of the Hanoi Police Club has shown disrespect for the penalties.
In total, after 8 matches directly directing the tactics of Hanoi Police Club, Mr. Tran Tien Dai (titled technical director, then transferred to head coach and then returned to the position of technical director) received 3 yellow cards and 1 red card.
This character's card frequency is higher than all other players. Specifically, the player of the Hanoi Police Club who received the most cards last season was Huynh Tan Sinh, who only had 2 yellow cards. In the matches directly directed by Mr. Tran Tien Dai, the player who received the most cards for the police team was Pham Van Luan (3 yellow cards), Junior Fialho (2 yellow cards, 1 red card).
In V.League 2023, Mr. Tran Tien Dai (also holding the title of technical director) received 3 yellow cards in 3 matches temporarily leading the team in place of head coach Flavio Cruz. According to regulations, this military commander was banned from directing the last match of the season (against Thanh Hoa Club) - right after he was appointed as head coach.
However, Mr. Dai still appeared on the track of Hang Day stadium.
In the first round of V.League 2023/2024, Mr. Dai arbitrarily skipped the press conference without any clear reason. Another assistant was assigned to answer the press conference but could not give any satisfactory answer.
In the past, Mr. Dai was severely punished for his behavior of reacting to referees and insulting the "judging community". In V.League 2013, within just 1 month, Coach Tran Tien Dai received 2 consecutive disciplinary sentences.
On April 4, 2013, Mr. Dai was banned from directing 2 matches by VFF for his reaction and insulting referee Nguyen Van Kien in the match at Chi Lang Stadium between SHB.Da Nang and Xuan Thanh Sai Gon. Coach Tran Tien Dai also rushed onto the field to protest the referee's decision.
On May 16, 2013, Mr. Dai was suspended by the Disciplinary Board for another 4 matches for his actions against the referee. During the match between Hai Phong and Xuan Thanh Sai Gon, Mr. Dai continuously reacted and put pressure on the referee. He made offensive and insulting statements towards the referee in the press conference after the match.
