The Hill newspaper reported that Republican candidate Donald Trump is leading Democratic opponent Kamala Harris by a large margin in the two states of Florida and Texas.
A survey released by The New York Times and Siena College on October 8 (US time) showed that Mr. Trump is leading Democratic candidate Harris by 6 percentage points in Texas. In Florida, this figure is up to 13 percentage points.

According to The Hill, these new figures may deal a blow to the views of some Democrats, who believe that their party's support in Florida and Texas "will change" after Ms. Harris becomes the Democratic candidate to replace US President Joe Biden in the race for the White House. Florida is often considered a battleground state in previous US presidential elections. However, with Mr. Trump winning here in the 2016 and 2020 elections, this state has been leaning towards the Republican Party in recent years. Meanwhile, in Texas, no Democratic candidate has won more support than his Republican opponent since 1976. In addition, the survey data also shows that Ms. Harris's support rate is still three percentage points higher than Mr. Trump's nationwide.Harris's national approval rating is higher than Trump's in the survey. The survey was conducted by The New York Times and Siena College between September 29 and October 6 with 3,385 voters participating. Of these, 622 and 617 voters came from Florida and Texas, respectively.Vietnamnet.vn
