OpenAI Completely Upgrades ChatGPT With the Ability to See, Hear, and Speak

VietNamNetVietNamNet26/09/2023

The AI chatbot will be able to converse using voice and interact through images, a step closer to Apple's virtual assistant Siri.

In a blog post on September 25, OpenAI said that the voice support feature "will open the door to innovation and applications focused on accessibility."

Paid users of OpenAI's ChatGPT service will receive a new update in the next two weeks.

Virtual assistant AI services like Siri, Google, and Amazon's Alexa are built directly into the device and are often used to set alarms, set reminders, or pull information from the Internet.

Since its launch late last year and becoming the fastest-growing app in Internet history, ChatGPT has been adopted by companies for a variety of tasks, from summarizing documents to writing computer code, creating a race among tech giants in the field.

ChatGPT's voice feature can tell bedtime stories, join in on dinner discussions, or act as a "secretary" transcribing what users read.

OpenAI says the technology is being used by Spotify on the platform's podcasts to translate their content into different languages.

Meanwhile, with the image support feature, users can take pictures of everything around them and ask the chatbot to solve problems such as “the oven is not working, what's in the fridge for dinner”, or even “analyze complex data charts”.

Alphabet's Google Lens is currently the most popular application for collecting information about images.

The new features on ChatGPT are expected to be released to Plus and Enterprise subscribers in the next two weeks.
