According to Kuo, Apple will launch an iPhone 17e model in the first half of 2026. This is similar to recent rumors that the iPhone maker will switch to a two-phase/year smartphone release strategy.

In a report released Monday, he laid out Apple's projected roadmap for the next two years as follows:
Second half of 2025: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Slim.
First half of 2026: iPhone 17e.
Second half of 2026: iPhone Foldable, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Slim.
First half of 2027: iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.
Second half of 2027: iPhone Foldable 2 (already in development), iPhone 19 Pro Max, iPhone 19 Pro, iPhone 19 Slim (with larger screen than iPhone 18 Slim).
Apple also launched the iPhone 16e this year, a cheaper version of the iPhone 16 starting at $599, replacing the iPhone SE. While The Information recently published a long list of new iPhone models expected to launch between 2025 and 2027 (including the iPhone 18e in spring 2027), it did not mention the iPhone 17e. However, Kuo's information confirms the existence of this model in the official roadmap.
According to Kuo, Apple is planning to split its iPhone launch schedule into two batches starting in 2026 – something that has not happened since the “Apple” established a fall release schedule with the iPhone 4S in 2011.
Apple's new strategy is driven by two main factors: Competitors typically launch new flagships in the first half of the year, creating a media void that the company wants to fill; The iPhone lineup is expanding, and if launched at the same time, it would "dilute the marketing message" and make it difficult to differentiate each product.
The new strategy shift shows that Apple is serious about maintaining global competitiveness, while expanding its product range with a foldable iPhone model, the ultra-thin Air line and low-cost versions like the “e”.
