Ham Thanh commends frontline forces in disaster prevention

Comrade To Thi Xuan Thuy, Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Ham Thanh commune spoke at the meeting.

According to statistics, the total value of damage caused by floods in Ham Thanh commune is estimated at 12.98 billion VND; of which, more than 125 hectares of crops were damaged, many roads and irrigation works were seriously eroded. The heaviest damage was in the areas along Linh River, Suoi Thi Bridge and the road to Da Ban - Gia Nao production area. Dozens of households had to be urgently evacuated to ensure safety of life and property.

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, acknowledged the contributions of the forces in flood prevention work.

During the peak days of floods, the police, military , militia... were on duty 24/7, organizing rescue, evacuating people from dangerous areas, regulating traffic, supporting the relocation of assets, ensuring absolute safety for the people. Notably, on the evening of November 1, the civil defense force brought more than 30 people from the production area back to the village safely when the upstream water poured heavily.

In recent days, the 4 local forces of Ham Thanh commune have made efforts to support people in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

The Standing Committee of the Commune Party Committee also listened to the thoughts and aspirations of the frontline forces in the process of performing their tasks. The units also proposed that the commune pay more attention to policies and regimes, so that the forces can work with peace of mind and be ready to respond to any natural disaster situation that may occur.

The forces also shared about the lack of rescue equipment causing difficulties in the support process when there is a natural disaster.

Speaking at the meeting, Party Secretary To Thi Xuan Thuy praised the sense of responsibility, efforts, courage and dedication of the frontline forces during the entire period of responding to natural disasters. She emphasized that in the context of complicated climate change and increasingly extreme natural disasters, each cadre, party member and local force needs to further promote the spirit of initiative and vigilance, and not be subjective or negligent.

The efforts of the frontline forces have helped Ham Thanh people gradually stabilize their lives.

The Party Secretary of the commune requested the Commune Civil Defense Command and forces to continue to strictly implement the "4 on-the-spot" motto, strengthen inspection, review, and update key points at risk of landslides and flooding to have timely response plans. At the same time, step up propaganda and mobilize people to proactively protect their lives, property, and crops; focus on overcoming consequences, and soon stabilize their lives and production.
