Origin of the name "Seven Models"

The name of the lake comes from its original area, estimated to be about seven Bac Bo (equivalent to 25,200 m²). According to ancient maps, Bay Mau Lake used to be larger, but in the early 20th century, the process of road construction divided the lake into three parts, creating Bay Mau Lake, Ba Mau Lake and Thien Quang Lake today. Later, the lake continued to be dredged and renovated to become an important part of the Thong Nhat Park complex.
