PC Da Nang: Strengthening solutions to improve safety of power grid corridors

In recent times, a number of people have not been fully aware of the dangers of violating the power grid safety corridor, and there are still cases of arbitrary construction and planting of trees encroaching on the power grid corridor. These factors have led to many cases of violating the power grid safety corridor during construction, causing many serious consequences for electrical safety, affecting the quality of power supply and causing loss of urban aesthetics.

Faced with the above situation, PC Da Nang has strengthened inspection and handling of violations, while promoting propaganda and raising people's awareness of the importance of protecting power grid safety corridors (HLATLĐ).

Specifically, recently, during the on-site inspection, Lien Chieu Power Company - PC Da Nang discovered and promptly prevented a violation of occupational safety and health in front of house number 393 Au Co, belonging to feeder 475T2.HKH, Hoa Khanh Bac ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city. At the scene, the construction team built a railing wall with a height from the top of the wall to the 22kV medium voltage line of only 1.5 meters, seriously violating the prescribed safety distance of 2 meters according to Decree 14/2014/ND-CP detailing the implementation of the Electricity Law on electrical safety; Decree 51/2020/ND-CP dated April 21, 2020 of the Government on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree 14/2014/ND-CP dated February 26, 2014.

Immediately after discovery, the electricity company made a record, requested the construction unit to immediately dismantle the illegal construction work and notified the homeowner, the construction unit owner must comply with the safety distance during the next construction process.

In addition, there are a number of other violations such as installing advertising signs, planting trees or erecting poles that violate the safe distance from power lines, which also pose many risks of causing power grid incidents, interrupting power supply, damaging electrical equipment, and in some cases even causing unfortunate accidents, with the risk of causing serious human consequences.

To enhance electrical safety, PC Da Nang regularly sends safety notices and instructions to investors and construction units to recognize the level of danger and impact of construction near the power grid on the 22kV medium voltage line supplying electricity to the area.

In addition, PC Da Nang also strengthens coordination with local authorities and functional units to organize propaganda on protecting high-voltage power grid works and electrical safety among people; organizes the distribution of leaflets, hangs billboards in crowded places, hangs safety warning signs at construction sites...

The unit also focuses on warning about prohibited acts such as: planting trees in violation of the power grid safety corridor; flying kites or flying objects near high-voltage power grid works; stealing, dismantling equipment on the power grid or using high-voltage power grid works for other purposes. It is recommended that units, investors and people when constructing or renovating construction works located in the high-voltage power grid corridor should proactively coordinate with the Electricity sector to implement safety measures and ensure distance according to regulations.

Preventing violations of the grid safety corridor is a long-term task and requires the cooperation of the whole community. Every citizen needs to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the grid safety corridor, and the authorities need to strengthen management and handling of violations. Only with close coordination between all parties can we ensure the safety of the grid, protect property and public health.
