In a global recall by Stellantis Group, nearly 135,000 vehicles, including many brands, notably the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 models, which are popular in the Vietnamese market, have been recalled. These vehicles have problems related to substandard electronic engine control units (ECUs), causing concerns about nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions into the environment above the limit.
Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 manufactured and assembled in Vietnam are not subject to the above recall.
A representative of Thaco , the company that manages, distributes and assembles the Peugeot brand in Vietnam, has made an official statement on this issue. Accordingly, Peugeot 3008 and 5008 manufactured and assembled in Vietnam are not on the global recall list. This information pleases consumers, especially those who love and own car models of this French brand.
It is worth noting that this recall only focuses on Peugeot 3008 and 5008 models manufactured in France from April 13, 2022 to September 6, 2023 and meeting Euro 6 standards. Meanwhile, the versions in Vietnam assembled at the Thaco factory in Chu Lai ( Quang Nam ) are not included in the recall.
With the clear affirmation and explanation from Thaco, Vietnamese consumers can feel secure when using and choosing Peugeot 3008 and 5008 in the domestic market. This is also an opportunity for the Vietnamese automobile market to continue to maintain trust in foreign brands, especially famous names like Peugeot.
