Mr. Pham Tran Do, the second son of Associate Professor Pham Van Tinh, shared with Tuoi Tre Online that his father suddenly passed away at around 5:00 a.m. this morning, May 10, at his home in Hanoi .
The cause is believed to be related to cardiovascular disease.
The news of Associate Professor Pham Van Tinh’s passing shocked many people in the research, language and literature circles. Just the day before, he was still posting on his personal Facebook page and interacting enthusiastically with friends.

Associate Professor Pham Van Tinh was born in 1954 in Nam Dinh .
As a linguistic expert, Associate Professor Pham Van Tinh has made great contributions to the study of Vietnamese linguistics in general and Vietnamese for young people today through many published works.
He is also an expert very close to the press, always enthusiastically giving expert opinions on Vietnamese language news stories.
He is also known for his enthusiasm in providing professional support to young people in many related fields, from language, literature to journalism.
Associate Professor Pham Van Tinh served as general secretary of the Vietnam Linguistics Association for many years before resigning in 2022.
