Quang Huy shot the first four rounds and scored two 97s and two 98s this morning, October 24. However, he only scored 95s and 96s in the last two rounds.

The Hai Phong shooter scored a total of 581 points, while his teammates Lai Cong Minh and Phan Cong Minh scored 578 and 577 points respectively, both of which were not enough to enter the individual finals.

But with a total of 1736 team points, Vietnam won the bronze medal, 10 points behind the Korean team and 14 points behind China. China also had the best individual shooter, Zhang Yifan, with 587 points. The second best individual shooter was Rakhimzhan Valeriy with 586 points, but "empty-handed" when two teammates from the Kazakhstan team did not play well, leading to the team finishing fifth overall.

Quang Huy is the new star of Vietnamese shooting, a student of Olympic champion Hoang Xuan Vinh. He helped Vietnam win its first gold medal at the 19th Asian Games when he topped the men's 10m air pistol individual event on September 28. Also at the 19th Asian Games, Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh and Phan Cong Minh won a bronze medal in the men's 10m air pistol team event.

Before the team event, Vietnam's shooting team had Trinh Thu Vinh competing in the women's 10m air pistol event at the Asian tournament. In the qualifying round, the female shooter scored 581 points, ranking fifth out of 52 contestants. In the final round, Thu Vinh competed with two shooters from Korea, two from China, two from Taiwan and one from Japan. She won a bronze medal with 219.7 points. Thu Vinh is currently the only shooter from Vietnam to have won a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 2023 Asian Shooting Championships will be held from October 22 to November 2 in Changwon, South Korea. The tournament, which also serves as an Olympic qualifier, will feature 813 shooters from 30 countries.
