Dear :

- Comrades leaders of the Party, State, Fatherland Front !

As someone who is fortunate to have directly witnessed a long period in the glorious history of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, to have the honor of standing in the ranks of journalists, to have contributed a small part in the glorious journalism career founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc - President Ho Chi Minh, under the leadership of the Communist Party, I am very happy and moved to be present at this solemn and special ceremony, to be able to express my gratitude to the generations of journalists who have paved the way, to share my sincere feelings and respect with my colleagues who are working in journalism with enthusiasm and creativity at the time of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, when the world is undergoing rapid and epochal changes; and to entrust my hope, love and trust to the journalists who will continue the second and longer 100 years of the country's journalism!

I would like to express my gratitude to the Organizing Committee for giving me this great honor. I would like to wish General Secretary To Lam, leaders of the Party, State, Fatherland Front, veteran journalists, fellow journalists and all comrades good health, happiness and success!

Dear comrades!

Since June 21, 1925, when Thanh Nien newspaper, founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, published its first issue, a new press has appeared in the political and social life of our country, a press carrying a new and special mission.

That is the mission of a weapon on the ideological front; a tool to awaken, educate and build the revolutionary force; a means to organize and lead the people to carry out political tasks under the leadership of the Party; all for the goal of driving out imperialist and colonial invaders, gaining independence and freedom; liberating people from slavery, oppression and exploitation; advancing to build socialism, bringing happiness to the people, peace, unity, prosperity and sustainability to the country.

From the period before the Communist Party was born, through the years of struggle under colonial and feudal rule, to the two wars to save the country, against the most powerful invaders, generations of revolutionary journalists have gone through countless hardships and sacrifices, under conditions of severe repression and terror from the enemy, or in difficult and deprived conditions in war zones and the wilderness, to maintain newspaper pages, radio programs, and news bulletins, contributing to arousing confidence and the will to win.

More than 500 journalist martyrs have fallen on the battlefields, many revolutionary journalists have sacrificed their lives in colonialist and imperialist prisons. In the peaceful construction of the country, defending the Fatherland, our press is a pioneering force in innovation, promptly reflecting the thoughts, aspirations, good initiatives, and creative models of the people, participating in monitoring and criticizing policies, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, becoming a two-way bridge, connecting our country with the world in the process of increasingly deep and comprehensive international integration. Over the past 100 years of history, the revolutionary press has accompanied the nation, writing glorious pages of history, leaving us and future generations of journalists a great spiritual asset, strong creative inspiration and passionate love for the profession, along with extremely valuable lessons.

We are the ones who entered the journalism profession with the encouragement of the great journalism career of President Ho Chi Minh and the excellent and resilient revolutionary journalists: Truong Chinh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Van Tao, Xuan Thuy, Tran Huy Lieu, Phan Dang Luu... But happier than the previous generations of revolutionary journalists, we enjoyed the education in socialist schools, received professional training in professional schools, were guided, guided, encouraged and passed on the flame of love for the profession by talented, dedicated, experienced revolutionary journalists who had struggled through the hardships and sacrifices of the two resistance wars such as: Hoang Tung, Tran Lam, Hong Ha, Ha Dang, Huu Tho, Luu Quy Ky, Quang Dam, Thep Moi, Hong Chuong, Dao Tung...

More than anyone else, we are deeply aware that, to truly be worthy of being a “soldier” on the Party’s ideological front, to contribute our strength and intelligence to building a solid bridge between the Party and the People, to become the Party’s organizational and leadership tool in carrying out the nation’s important political tasks, to effectively contribute to the responsibility of “supporting the righteous and eliminating evil,” to protect the great achievements of the revolution that under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam, generations of revolutionary soldiers and our People had to exchange blood, sweat and tears to obtain, journalists must have “clear eyes, pure hearts, and sharp pens.”

“Bright eyes” are the clarity guided by intelligence, by a system of knowledge that is constantly being nurtured and expanded, by the life experiences of journalists that are enriched every day by real-life experiences.

Bright eyes” help journalists perceive, analyze, and evaluate events and manifestations of life in order to discover new issues from reality, to perceive the truths and natures hidden behind the colors and outer shells.

Inner heart ” is the ethics, conscience, love for the profession and sense of political and social responsibility of journalists, the qualities that enable journalists to fulfill the role of “ soldiers on the front line” of journalism as Uncle Ho reminded.

Inner heart” is also what motivates each journalist to commit to the journalism profession for the benefit of the nation, for the happiness of the people, for the sustainability of the regime, to dare to accept difficulties and complications for the sake of justice, to demonstrate courage in the face of temptations of unjust profits.

Sharp pen ” is talent, professional expertise, the ability to create works and press products that are convincing and attractive to the public, giving people correct awareness and positive inspiration in work, production and life.

Sharp pen ” is also the ability to use tools, technical means, advanced technology, modern creative working methods and ways, adapt quickly and effectively to changes in technology and fluctuations in practice.

Dear comrades!

The 100-year history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism is a source of pride, but it also reminds us of a future vision for revolutionary journalism in the new era of national development.

Now, we are facing a world that is changing extremely rapidly, complexly and unpredictably. Science and technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), are having a huge impact on human life, disrupting lifestyles, thinking, ways of doing things and many social issues.

In that general context, the question is how our press can best take advantage of favorable opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges, fulfill its mission before the Party, the People, and the nation, and contribute to bringing our country to the goal of 100 years of founding and beyond. As an individual, and also the wish of many journalists and press agencies that I know, I would like to express a few wishes:

- Firstly , if the tradition and characteristics of revolutionary journalism are dynamism, creativity, and always being a pioneer in life, then now is the most necessary and urgent time for us journalists to demonstrate that spirit in digital transformation, transforming professional working methods, transforming the organization of the press management apparatus, adapting most quickly to actual conditions and responding most positively to the requirements of the revolutionary cause.

Digital transformation is actually not just a matter of technology, but more importantly and first of all, it is about transforming people from awareness, political determination, ways of working, ways of organizing work, ways of applying technology appropriately, to investment in human resources, retraining for journalists, technical infrastructure...

- Second , from a clear and correct awareness of the current situation of the press, it is necessary to comprehensively, synchronously, and revolutionaryly innovate in terms of content, operating methods, production technology, means of transmitting messages... inevitably leading to the requirement to innovate the organization of the press agency system in the direction of being streamlined, compact, strong, efficient, effective and efficient.

In such conditions, each press agency and each journalist must be proactive, creative and proactive in solving organizational and employment problems. However, the attention of the Party, the State and each locality, expressed through reasonable policies in arranging human resources, retraining, creating jobs, livelihoods and career changes for journalists who are not assigned to the new apparatus, is indispensable.

- Third , from the lessons learned about the role of the press in our country and the world over the past 100 years, we hope that the Party, the State, localities, departments and branches will continue to pay attention to leadership and direction, and have long-term and consistent strategic decisions to develop the Vietnamese press to become increasingly powerful, humane, professional, modern , and truly an effective tool in organizing, building and developing the country, a sharp weapon to protect the country, protect the regime, protect the Party and protect the People .

Once again, I would like to express my deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and previous generations who opened up and made the glorious history of 100 years of revolutionary journalism; I would like to entrust my trust to those who are continuing the revolutionary journalism career with the hope that our country's journalism will develop more brilliantly, making greater contributions to the cause of national construction and the happiness of the people!

Wishing comrade General Secretary To Lam, leaders of the Party, State, Fatherland Front, journalists and all comrades good health, happiness and success!

Thank you very much!
