Launching the Contest for Writing Feature Film and Documentary Scripts to Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam

Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, Director of the Department of Cinema, said: The contest "Composing feature film and documentary scripts in 2023-2024 towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2030)" aims to implement Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2008 of the Politburo on continuing to build and develop literature and arts in the new period, Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014 of the Politburo on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development, Conclusion No. 76/KL/TW dated June 4, 2020 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW; Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and Conclusion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 2021 National Cultural Conference; Decision No. 2156/QD-TTg dated November 11, 2013 of the Prime Minister approving the "Cinema Development Strategy to 2020, vision to 2030" and Decision No. 1909/QD-TTg dated November 12, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the "Cultural Development Strategy to 2030" to create the foundation and resources for developing cinema in the direction of cultural industry.

The contest also aims to select feature film and documentary scripts for the "Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2030)" with profound ideological content, conveying historical and contemporary messages, imbued with national cultural identity, humanity, and benevolence; Creating a source of high-quality scripts to meet the political task of producing the film "Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2030)".

The Contest is open to Vietnamese citizens, Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Vietnam or abroad; foreigners living, studying and working legally in Vietnam, with no age limit.

The script must be a new composition, not having participated in any script selection rounds for film production using the State budget at the Central, local levels, Television Stations, Radio - Television Stations, Ministries, Departments and branches; not having won any prizes at any domestic or international script writing competitions and not having been produced into a film.

For documentary scripts, ensure a production time of 30 to 45 minutes and for feature film scripts, ensure a production time of 90 to 120 minutes.

Regarding content, the script has topics and content about the Communist Party of Vietnam; the cause of building and defending the Fatherland under the leadership of the Party; the cause of building Vietnam into a "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization"; about the outstanding leaders of the Party in the glorious 100-year history of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2030);

The content of the script comprehensively and vividly reflects the Party's viewpoints, guidelines and policies in the revolutionary cause of fighting for national independence, building and developing the country; vividly reflects the areas of economic , cultural and social life, new issues of the country associated with the Party's guidelines, policies and leadership; the close relationship between the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army; the work of Party building and rectification, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, innovating the Party's leadership methods; fighting against peaceful evolution; preventing and combating corruption; protecting the Party and the socialist regime; Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle.

The completed competition script is presented on A4 paper, font size 14 to 16, with page numbers and segment numbers; accompanied by a brief introduction to the topic, idea, ideological theme, script message, introduction to the script's character system, a brief summary of the script's content of no more than 500 words, production plan, written commitment that the script submitted to the competition is the author's own new creation, written consent to use the original work for scripts adapted from literary, theatrical or other art forms; consent from the owner, legally authorized person, legal representative for the ideas and works used; consent from co-authors related to the competition script.

Regarding the awards, for feature film scripts, there is 01 first prize worth 80 million VND; 02 second prizes worth 50 million VND each; 02 third prizes worth 30 million VND each.

For documentary scripts, 01 first prize is worth 40 million VND; 02 second prizes are worth 30 million VND each, 02 third prizes are worth 20 million VND each.

Script submission period is from February 1, 2024 to April 1, 2024. Preliminary round takes place from April 15, 2024 to July 15, 2024; Final round takes place from July 30, 2024 to August 30, 2024; Each contestant is allowed to submit no more than 2 scripts for each genre.

The Competition's Closing and Award Ceremony is expected to take place in September 2024.
