Two health supplements found to contain banned substance sibutramine

NDO - Two health food products Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold and Best Slim Collagen contain the banned substance sibutramine, which can be dangerous to health.

The Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) said it has just sent an official dispatch to 63 provinces and cities nationwide regarding the monitoring and recall of products containing banned substances.

Specifically, the Food Safety Department received a report from the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene Control on the results of testing monitoring samples, detecting that the health protection food products Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold and Best Slim Collagen contained the banned substance sibutramine.

Health protection food Dang xuan phuc linh gold (batch number: 11 2023, manufacturing date: 11/1/2023, expiry date: 11/1/2026); manufactured at Austin Biologic & Technology limited Austin Road West Level 206, International commerce centre, Hong Kong.

The importer, distributor and responsible for the quality of the goods is EU YB Joint Stock Company, address: Group 20, Minh Tan Ward, Yen Bai City. Test result: positive for the banned substance sibutramine.

Health protection food Best slim collagen (batch number 29L367, expiry date: 1.2027), made in the USA; manufactured by: Arnet Pharmaceutical, 2525 Davie Road, Bldg 330. Davied, Florida 33317.

The importer, distributor and responsible for the quality of the goods is Hoa Anh Dao Medical Equipment Company Limited, address: Hamlet 4, Hai Boi village, Hai Boi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi city. Test result: positive for the banned substance sibutramine.

Also according to the Food Safety Department, of the above two products, the health protection food product Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold has not registered the product declaration registration number; the product declaration registration receipt number printed on the packaging is incorrect.

Regarding the health protection food product Best slim collagen announced by Hoa Anh Dao Medical Equipment Company Limited, the registration certificate number 4844/2019/DKSP was registered on May 7, 2019. Hoa Anh Dao Medical Equipment Company Limited reported that it did not import the Best slim collagen product batch (Lot/production should be used before #29L367-01/2027). The Food Safety Department is coordinating with relevant authorities to inspect and handle according to regulations.

To ensure the health of consumers and strengthen the fight against counterfeit food products, the Food Safety Department recommends that the Department of Health and the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department of provinces and cities advise consumers not to buy, use, or trade the two batches of health protection foods with the above information.

In case of detecting organizations or individuals trading products with the above information, it is recommended to recall and handle violations according to the provisions of law.

In Vietnam, since 2010, the Drug Administration of Vietnam, Ministry of Health, has directed to stop granting import licenses for sibutramine. In April 2011, this agency suspended nationwide circulation and recalled all drugs containing the active ingredient sibutramine due to undesirable effects. The agency also withdrew the registration numbers of all drugs containing the active ingredient sibutramine.
