On September 19, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Dinh Hoa Ward, Binh Duong Province) said that he had received a petition from Ms. Vo Thu Thao about her family having a house built on her land by mistake.
Ms. Vo Thu Thao (33 years old, from Vinh Long province) said that she and her husband bought a piece of land (plot 813, map sheet 82) on DX066 street, area 71.4m2 from 2024.
On June 14, 2025, when her family came to check the land to prepare to build a house, they discovered that the neighbor had built a house on their land.
Upon discovering the incident, Ms. Thao discussed with her neighbor (the person who built the wrong building) to find a solution (from June 2025).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (55 years old) was the one who discussed with Ms. Thao about the solution.
After many discussions, both sides came up with solutions but all failed. Ms. Hanh then asked for 3 weeks to move the house that was mistakenly built on Ms. Thao’s land.
However, after many promises, Ms. Hanh still has not moved, so on September 17, Ms. Thao's family sent a letter to Ms. Hanh, requesting that the land be returned to her family immediately.
On September 18, Ms. Thao's family continued to submit a request for land dispute mediation to the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep Ward, stating that her family was mistakenly built a house on her land by someone else.
Ms. Thao said she thought this was just an unfortunate mistake so she patiently gave the wrong builder time to resolve it. However, after many days, Ms. Hanh's side still did not move the house.
"I was patient and waited, and communicated politely because I thought that if my family built a house there in the future, we would be neighbors. If we had disagreements from the beginning, it would not be good," Ms. Thao emphasized.

On the morning of September 19, Tuoi Tre Online reporters were present at the land where the dispute occurred to investigate the incident. According to records, Ms. Thao’s land plot was built with a solid house. Next to it was the corner plot of the family that had built the wrong plot and had a fence built around it to make a garden.
Also this morning, the authorities were present at the disputed area to survey and work with the homeowner who mistakenly built on Ms. Thao's land.
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep ward said that the government received Ms. Thao's application on September 18.
Initially, the authorities will survey the current situation of the dispute and conduct mediation with the parties involved. If the results are not achieved, the locality will guide the parties to file a lawsuit in court.
