However, in the flow of modern society, indigenous culture is facing many vulnerabilities and challenges. Artisans rich in folk knowledge are gradually disappearing. Many valuable cultural heritages, performing arts, traditional musical instruments, indigenous knowledge are losing their value in contemporary life.
Good customs, practices, festivals, beliefs, lifestyles, and national costumes are being impacted, distorted, and their space for existence is shrinking. This reality poses an urgent need; preserving cultural identity is not just about preserving it, but also needs to be nurtured and energized to promote and spread its value in today's life. It is noteworthy that many communities have proactively preserved and promoted national culture by applying and selecting typical elements in cuisine , traditional occupations, etc. as advantages to exploit, thereby forming cultural products with their own mark.
The national cultural identity has also been transformed and innovated in music , cinema, fashion, tourism, etc., contributing to introducing and spreading Vietnamese culture to the world. Many art projects with ethnic minority colors, tourism activities associated with the lives of indigenous people, and community initiatives have been contributing to preserving and spreading the cultural beauty of ethnic groups.
More happily, the awareness of many communities has changed positively, from propaganda and advocacy to self-preservation as an intrinsic need. The long-standing culture is nurtured by the community and the owner with cultivation and creativity, making the indigenous culture not only retain its core spirit but also be in line with trends and continue to be present in today's life.
In the face of increasingly strong global and urbanization waves, the risk of "uniform" cultural values is increasingly evident. Therefore, when preserved and developed in the life of the community, cultural identity is no longer a highlight with a complementary color but is truly a resource and growth driver. Of course, the process of preservation and development always gives rise to contradictions and conflicts between old and new elements. Therefore, the task of preserving cultural identity is not limited to copying the status quo or clinging to, using the past as a measure, but requires open thinking, recognizing preservation as a living process, closely linked to movement and adaptation.
Culture is a constant flow, so it is necessary to create new development spaces for culture to transform and adapt to have a strong and abundant vitality. The harmonious connection between the mainstream culture - Vietnamese culture and the unique nuances of ethnic minorities creates a combined strength, fostering the spirit of solidarity and cohesion between communities. That is also an advantage for us to achieve new cultural achievements, affirm our identity and become a sign of national cultural recognition.
Honoring the national cultural identity is not only a responsibility to protect and preserve, but also a way to transform resources into development resources, making practical contributions to building a progressive cultural environment and life. When culture becomes a natural material, an endogenous driving force in each community and individual, a cultural foundation deeply rooted in the origin will be a factor leading the process of sustainable innovation; the modernization process not only does not fade identity but also becomes a context to highlight the core values of Vietnamese culture.
