Within the framework of the program of Overseas Vietnamese Delegation attending the Ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, on April 28, the Overseas Vietnamese Delegation consisting of more than 100 delegates from 25 countries and territories visited and presented gifts of gratitude in Cu Chi district - the heroic land associated with the glorious history of the nation.
The program was organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Cu Chi district, to demonstrate the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", to show gratitude for the great contributions of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and families with meritorious services to the revolution.
At the meeting, overseas Vietnamese representatives expressed their emotions and deep gratitude for the sacrifices of previous generations in the cause of protecting the Fatherland and unifying the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, emotionally expressed: "We will forever remember, show gratitude and be grateful for the boundless sacrifices of the heroic martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veterans, families whose relatives have devoted their lives to the revolutionary cause of the nation and share the immeasurable losses of families whose children and grandchildren are victims of Agent Orange."
During the program, to express the deep feelings of the Vietnamese community abroad, as a sincere gratitude from those living far away from home, gifts in kind and cash were presented to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families with meritorious services, victims of Agent Orange and students in difficult circumstances. In addition, the delegation also visited the home of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Phai and the family of Agent Orange victim Le Thanh Tam.
The return to the source activity in Cu Chi is not only an occasion to show gratitude, but also an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to witness the strong changes and development of their homeland, further strengthening the bond between compatriots at home and abroad, contributing to spreading the spirit of great national unity in the new development stage of the country.
