This is an important milestone, affirming Hue's pioneering role in developing a green heritage model associated with environmentally friendly transportation. With the strategy of building the first "Bicycle City" in Vietnam, Hue is opening a new direction in sustainable tourism development, both preserving cultural heritage and promoting environmental protection solutions.
At the event, the Vietnam Green Building Council will award the LOTUS green building certificate to Thai Hoa Palace - marking the first time a heritage building in a UNESCO-recognized relic complex in Vietnam has achieved the “green building” standard. This is not only an environmental recognition but also honors Hue ’s sustainable conservation efforts throughout the journey of restoring the relics.

On this occasion, VGBC also awarded a certificate and honored GCOO as LOTUS Green Service Provider - a pioneer in providing sustainable transportation services for tourism. GCOO - a brand of Gbike Group (Korea), is one of the pioneering models in applying electric vehicles to serve visitors at the Hue heritage site. Here, GCOO will present 20 new generation GCOO electric bicycles to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center. These vehicles will be put into operation to promote their value right in the new tourist route at the Imperial City.
In addition to the certificate awarding ceremony, the event will also feature a media cycling activity with the participation of more than 100 delegates including leaders, businessmen,educators , students and pupils. The journey by GCOO electric bicycles on the main roads of Hue City aims to spread the message: " Sustainability from the roots - Reviving heritage, creating a green future" .
Aiming to put green transportation into long-term service, GCOO will deploy 13 electric bicycle stations in key areas of Hue City in the first phase, operating from April 20, 2025. It is expected that 140 bicycles will be put into operation at locations such as Tu Do Stadium, Hue City People's Committee, Ho Chi Minh Museum, Kim Long Park... After completing the inspection, this electric bicycle system will continue to be expanded to serve tourists and residents.
With concrete and connected steps, Hue is gradually realizing its vision of becoming a smart - green - sustainable heritage city in the near future.
