Over 70 years old, Mr. Duong Huu Than, in Luong Xa village, Hiep Cuong commune, remembers many poems, historical stories and knowledge about culture - society , health care. That is the result of him often going to the library to read books, exchange knowledge and useful information with people who share the same passion. Mr. Than expressed: The village has a treasure trove of knowledge, but if we don't go out to read and learn to serve our lives, work and get rich, it would be a waste. I am very happy that the locality invests in the library, cares about developing education, developing people and the library is gradually becoming an attractive destination for young people and children.
Luong Xa village library was built with the budget and contributions from the people with an area of 180m2 , an investment cost of more than 2.2 billion VND, officially serving the people from September 2024. Currently, the library has more than 2,000 books and documents with diverse content: history, literature, economics , science and technology, comics... Along with the richness of books and documents, the library also has 3 sets of computers for people to listen and read books and newspapers on the internet. Mr. Quach Van Phuong, Head of Luong Xa village, said: With the desire to spread reading culture, nurture the spirit, aspiration to master knowledge, change people's economic development thinking, the library opens on weekends for people to come read books, participate in cultural activities and borrow books.
Although not spacious and modern, Mai Vien village library still attracts many readers thanks to the rich variety of books, newspapers, documents and its location in the cultural center of the village. Every afternoon, in front of the library yard, adults and children actively practice sports such as volleyball and badminton. In the library, those who are passionate about mastering knowledge or waiting for their turn to enter the sports field also take the opportunity to read books and newspapers. Nguyen Ngoc Anh followed her grandparents to the library and was surprised and excited to read many good books here. Ngoc Anh shared: I just read in the library the books "Child prodigy of Vietnam", "Life of geniuses", "One hundred thousand questions why"... Although the books are a bit old, the content is very good. I have written down the names of good books to introduce to many other friends to read.
Improving the quality of library and bookcase activities at the grassroots level not only helps provide information, foster knowledge, and improve the spiritual life of the people, but is also a criterion in building advanced new rural areas. The reading movement has helped people in Hiep Cuong commune access the world's knowledge, responding to lifelong learning following Uncle Ho's example.
