On June 4, Hoan My Cuu Long General Hospital announced that its doctors had successfully performed laparoscopic surgery to remove a liver tumor from a 61-year-old patient.
Previously, the patient was hospitalized with symptoms of pain in the right flank and low back, accompanied by a persistent low-grade fever. Through examination and imaging tests, the doctor discovered a 3x4 cm liver tumor, suspected of being hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
After 60 minutes of laparoscopic surgery, the liver tumor was completely removed and the patient recovered quickly.

After a specialist consultation, the patient was indicated for laparoscopic surgery to resect segment IV of the liver. The surgery was performed through four small incisions on the abdomen, using a Harmonic ultrasonic knife to dissect and cut the liver precisely, minimizing blood loss.
After 60 minutes of surgery, the tumor was completely removed. The patient recovered quickly, was able to eat normally and was discharged after 4 days of treatment.
Dr. Huynh Van Ut Chot (Digestive Department, Hoan My Cuu Long General Hospital) said that laparoscopic liver resection surgery with the support of modern equipment is an important step forward in the treatment of liver cancer and complex hepatobiliary diseases. Patients can recover faster, have a shorter hospital stay, and return to daily activities sooner.
