Vietnamese cinema uses AI technology to 'overcome difficulties'

(Chinhphu.vn) - The problem of the female lead actress being in legal trouble and unable to appear on air has been solved by the film crew using AI technology. This is the first Vietnamese film to apply this technology.

Film crew representatives interacted and answered questions from the press.

After having to postpone the release date twice, on August 4, 2025, the movie "Closing the deal" had its premiere exclusively for the press, critics and partners. The female lead character Hoang Linh, once played by a famous beauty, was replaced by an AI actress, a product of Vietnamese technology creators.

The film crew called for cooperation from Vietnamese technology companies, evaluated the trial videos , and then decided to choose this option. The actor replacement did not affect the original script, and the film still kept the original 113-minute duration.

On the legal side, the publisher representative said that they have researched and fully complied with current regulations. The use of an AI actor to replace the female lead has not caused any disputes.

In a society deeply influenced by technology, the world of Mr. An (played by Quyen Linh), a technology driver in his late years, struggling to make a living for himself and a lost girl whom he adopted out of compassion, is built as a contrast to the glamorous world of livestream sales of Hoang Linh (AI actor) with fierce competition and tireless efforts. Loneliness and separation are present in both the luxurious villa where Hoang Linh lives and Mr. An's poor apartment building, but in Mr. An's world, humanity still sparkles.

The chance encounter between Hoang Linh and Mr. An created a turning point in her perception. Even with legitimate efforts, is life just a competition to achieve a hundred billion livestream session or sales titles? Is it really difficult to have selfless acts of kindness like a technology driver? And should that kindness be left alone, lost in a world that is spinning faster and faster due to the rapid changes in technology?

The issue that the film deals with is topical, as recently a series of famous people have been caught up in the law due to violations in sales activities and billion-dollar livestream sessions.

"Closing the deal" implies the choices each person makes in the situations they face in life. The joy that comes from "closing the deal", if it cannot spread to the people around, at least should not come from their sadness.

"Closing the deal" takes real effort and coincidentally, that's also how this film reached the public.
