On August 23, 8 episodes of "Silent Forest" were officially released to the audience.

The film tells the story of two motel owners living in two different timelines: Gu Sang Jun (Yoon Kye Sang) - a motel owner in the past, accidentally letting a murderer hide, and Jeon Young Ha (Kim Yun Seok) - a motel owner in the present who encounters a similar incident when renting a room to a mysterious guest Sung Ah (Go Min Si).

Before airing, the film was highly appreciated by the Korea Herald for telling the story of ordinary individuals - people who suddenly face terrible misfortune.

Along with that, the film is directed by Mo Wan Il - the winner of the Best TV Director award at the 56th Baeksang with the film " The World of the Married".

In addition, "Silent Forest" marks the return of veteran actor Kim Yun Seok after 17 years of absence. Previously, he was recognized by the media for his acting skills in hit films such as "Tazza: The High Rollers", "The Yellow Sea"...

However, contrary to expectations of an attractive mystery horror film, "Silent Forest" disappointed viewers because the story lacked breakthroughs, was disjointed with slow developments, and combined timelines that were confusing to viewers.

Since the villain appeared right from the first episode, the media thought that the show did not need to be extended to 8 episodes. Instead, the content could be condensed into 4-5 episodes.

However, the film still has bright spots when it invests in images with beautiful angles, creating clear contrasts. In addition, the sound and acting of the cast are also attractive factors.

While Kim Yun Seok had a successful comeback as a man who always seeks peace, Go Min Si showed a transformation in her image when playing a villain. However, in some scenes that required cruelty, the actress was criticized for being "forced" and not making the audience feel "satisfied".

This is also the reason why the film has not been able to explode on the broadcasting platform, although the director said that he and his crew cherished many meaningful messages through the individuals confronting and persevering in the face of unexpected challenges, from which they have more opportunities to reflect on themselves.
