Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics appointed as Secretary of Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee

On June 26, Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo's decision on personnel work.

At the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission Nguyen Quang Duong announced the Politburo 's decision on the transfer and appointment of Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

On behalf of the Politburo, Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong presented the decision and flowers to congratulate the new Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Van Gau.

Mr. Nguyen Van Gau (57 years old) is from Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province; has a bachelor's degree in social sciences and humanities. Mr. Nguyen Van Gau grew up in the army, served as Political Commissar, then Political Commissar of Military Region 9. After being elected to the 13th Party Central Committee in early 2021, he was appointed Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

Previously, on May 1, former Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee Duong Van Thai was prosecuted and temporarily detained for abusing his position and power while performing official duties in the case at Thuan An Group. The National Assembly then also decided to dismiss Mr. Duong Van Thai from his role as a National Assembly delegate.

After Mr. Thai was prosecuted and temporarily detained, from May 24 until now, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, has been running the activities of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee.
