On June 5, in Lac Duong district, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee organized the Launching Ceremony and response to World Environment Day on June 5, 2025 with the theme "Reducing plastic waste - Collecting and classifying waste at source", a specific, practical action of great significance to protect the living environment, protect public health and preserve a sustainable future for future generations.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Plastic waste is becoming one of the most serious environmental challenges globally. Plastic waste is not biodegradable, causing soil, water and air pollution.

However, in recent years, uncontrolled living, farming, tourism and production activities in the area surrounding the lake have put increasing pressure on the water environment.

Lam Dong provincial leaders requested authorities at all levels, departments, branches, organizations, businesses, and schools across the province to take the lead in reducing, collecting, classifying, and treating waste at source; Strengthen inspection and supervision of waste discharge activities, especially in the upstream area of ​​Dan Kia Lake and surrounding areas. At the same time, mobilize resources to invest in and upgrade the waste collection and treatment system...

Immediately after the launching ceremony, Lam Dong provincial leaders, representatives of departments, branches and people cleaned up trash and planted trees around Dan Kia lake.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong, the total amount of domestic solid waste generated in Lam Dong province is about 398,668 tons/year, equivalent to 1,092.3 tons/day. According to survey data, the current collection rate in urban areas is on average 96% (up 8% compared to 2021) and in rural areas is about 80% (up 13% compared to 2021). The rate of domestic waste collected and treated in Lam Dong is still low compared to the set target; the work of collecting, treating and minimizing environmental pollution still faces many difficulties, although there are solutions but they have not been thoroughly resolved; Investment attraction in the field is still limited...
