On the morning of May 21, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien, along with leaders of the province's functional departments and branches, inspected the situation and worked with Minh Long district on the implementation of 02 national target programs: Sustainable poverty reduction; Socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien inspected the implementation of 02 National Target Programs in Minh Long district.

Regarding the National Target Program on socio -economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, according to the report of the People's Committee of Minh Long district, in the period of 2021-2025, the whole district has allocated more than 123 billion VND to solve the shortage of residential land, housing, production land, and domestic water; planning, arranging, and stabilizing the population in necessary places; developing sustainable agricultural and forestry production, promoting the potential and strengths of regions to produce goods according to the value chain; investing in essential infrastructure to serve production and life in ethnic minority and mountainous areas and public service units in the agricultural sector; developing education and training to improve the quality of human resources; preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development; taking care of people's health; gender equality ,... As of the end of April 2025, more than 77.8 billion VND had been disbursed, reaching 63.3%.

District People's Committee leaders report on the implementation of 2 National Target Programs

Regarding the implementation of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2024, according to the report of the District People's Committee, at the beginning of 2024, the total number of households in the district was 5,274, of which the rate of poor households accounted for 16.78%, and near-poor households accounted for 4.99%. By the end of 2024, the rate of poor households decreased to 10.8%, and near-poor households decreased to 3.55%, exceeding the set plan.

By the end of 2024, the number of poor households with jobs will be 338/571 households; 100% of poor households and near-poor households will be supported to participate in health insurance; 100% of officials working on poverty reduction will be trained and educated on the contents of poverty reduction work; 100% of poor households and near-poor households will be connected, consulted, given career orientation, and provided with labor market information; 99.12% of children will go to school at the right age; about 64% of poor households and over 89% of near-poor households will use clean water and clean toilets; 62% of poor households and 95.1% of near-poor households will use means of accessing information; 882 poor households will be supported with electricity bills, etc.

However, at present, some projects and sub-projects under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas have not been implemented, such as: the content of pre-university, university and postgraduate training under Sub-Project 2, under Project 5 has no subjects to register for implementation; Sub-Project 1 of Project 9; Sub-Project 2, Project 10; the content of supporting production development according to the value chain under Sub-Project 2, Project 3, etc.

Through the actual inspection of the implementation of a number of projects and through the report of the People's Committee of Minh Long district, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien acknowledged the results the district has achieved in implementing the two National Target Programs on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas; Sustainable poverty reduction.

Pointing out some shortcomings and limitations that need to be overcome and suggesting some contents for implementing the 2 National Target Programs in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the district to proactively review and transfer capital sources between projects flexibly, ensuring that work is not interrupted during the time of transferring tasks between district and commune levels.

In addition, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested units in the district to continue to speed up disbursement work, focus on inspection and supervision so that the implementation results of the 2 Programs come into reality, ensuring that investment capital is used most effectively.
