According to the initial investigation results, Phong and Hung were the ones directly responsible for checking and confirming the origin of the land. Both of them approved the origin and time of use of 2 plots of land for Mr. LQN and 1 plot of land for Mr. DHT, but they did not do so strictly, did not check the information on the origin and time of land use provided by the participants in the approval, and collected opinions from the wrong land users, leading to incorrect confirmation of the actual origin of the land and time of land use.

Specifically, the land was approved by the State for granting to an entity that was not eligible for a land use right certificate (the State-managed property was converted into the property of an individual that was not eligible for a land use right certificate) with an area of ​​nearly 45,300 ^m2 . Thereby, causing a loss to the State of over 31 billion VND.

Searching the workplace and residence of Hung and Phong, the investigation agency seized many important documents related to the criminal acts of the two suspects.

The case of the Vice Chairman of Cua Can Commune (Phu Quoc City) and the cadastral officer of this commune being irresponsible causing serious consequences is being continued to be investigated and handled by the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Province Police according to the provisions of law.
