Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said that the Government will soon establish an inter-sectoral working group, headed by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong, to remove difficulties and obstacles in implementing projects funded by the World Bank in Vietnam.

The Deputy Prime Minister also assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment to lead the preparation of a list of projects in preparation. Any project that fails to complete the preparation work within 24 months according to current WB regulations will be disqualified.

Ms. Carolyn Turk appreciated the Government's decision to establish a Working Group, affirming her willingness to closely coordinate with the Working Group to resolve outstanding issues in ongoing projects in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and the WB Country Director in Vietnam agreed to maintain a quarterly meeting mechanism to review the progress of WB projects.

Since 1993, the WB has provided Vietnam with about 25 billion USD in preferential capital along with technical assistance and policy advice, actively contributing to Vietnam's socio-economic development.

In the context of the current difficult, complex and challenging world situation, the WB's support and assistance to Vietnam is even more important. The Government leader affirmed that Vietnam always considers the WB a good friend and a very important development partner; at the same time, he expressed his wish to see the Vietnam - WB partnership continue to develop further in the future.
