The exhibition marks an important milestone in the creative career of artist Truong Ngoc Hien, who has devoted his life to painting on silk and Do paper. The gentle, emotional paintings in the exhibition express his passionate love for nature, people and country.

Living in Nghi Tam, near Quang Ba flower market, the female artist has a great love for flowers. More than half of the works in this exhibition are about flowers, with evocative names such as: “Autumn in Hanoi ”, “Dance of Water Orchids”, “Purple Orchids”, “Hoang Lan”, “Wild Banana Flowers”, “White Bird’s Nest Flowers”, “Garden Flowers”, “Narcissus”, “Purple Orchids”, “Water Lily Basket”, “Sea Snail Flowers”….
Besides, the author introduces paintings about Hanoi and the countryside such as "But Thap Pagoda", "Hanoi Street", "Cat Ba Sea Village", "Boat and Sea", "Quiet Sea", "Northwest Autumn", "Black Thai Village", "Road to School"...

In particular, the two works "Uncle Ho's soldiers on the way to liberate the Capital" (oil on canvas, 130x100cm) and "On the way to liberate the Northwest" (silk, 110x90cm) have an epic atmosphere, affirming the desire for freedom and peace .
Sharing at the exhibition, artist Truong Ngoc Hien expressed: “My exhibition took place in a warm atmosphere, on the occasion of the country's 80th anniversary of independence, and I also turned 80 years old, the exhibition is very meaningful. Each painting is a part of memory, a love for Hanoi and for the homeland and country”.
Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association Mai Thi Ngoc Oanh commented: “This is the third exhibition of painter Truong Ngoc Hien, with the second exhibition being 24 years after the third, which shows her enduring creativity and unique artistic style. At the age of 80, she still maintains her subtlety, tenderness and an unfailing love for art. Watching the exhibition, I feel gentle and tender with the streets and flowers.”

Born in 1946 in Yen Phu (Ba Dinh, Hanoi), painter Truong Ngoc Hien grew up in a family with a rich artistic tradition. Her father, Mr. Truong Van Hieu, was a famous dancer in Hanoi, close to many artists such as Nguyen Sang, Bui Xuan Phai... Since childhood, she lived in an artistic atmosphere, learning to draw at the age of 12 with painter Pham Viet Song, then continued to be trained by teachers Nguyen Duc Nung and Nguyen Sy Ngoc.
She graduated from the Vietnam College of Fine Arts (1966), Hanoi University of Fine Arts (1979), worked at the Animation Studio, and then worked for 34 years at the Propaganda Department (Hanoi Department of Information). In the field of propaganda paintings, she won many awards with works about the Party, Uncle Ho, resistance, children, family... Some are currently kept at the Vietnam History Museum and the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.
Before “Street and Flowers”, she held two solo exhibitions in 1994 and 2001. Notably, all three solo exhibitions opened on September 11 – a coincidence that marked a fateful milestone in her creative path.
With his persistent contributions, painter Truong Ngoc Hien was awarded the First Class Anti-American Resistance Medal, the Medal for the Cause of Mass Culture, and the Medal for the Cause of Fine Arts.
The exhibition “Street and Flowers” is not only an art event, but also an opportunity to look back on the journey of a female artist from Hanoi, who lived, created and devoted herself completely to fine arts as well as the love of life.
The exhibition runs until September 20.
