Action for a clean environment
Every Sunday, regardless of rain or shine, on many village roads in Dong Cuu commune, hundreds of women members come out to clean the village roads and alleys, plant and take care of flower and tree paths, clear bushes, and clear sewers. Regularly every week, every month, every year, from these green Sundays, environmental protection awareness has spread to a large number of people, helping to make the appearance of the village roads and alleys from the village to the city here more and more beautiful and clean every day.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Duong, President of the Women's Union of Dong Cuu Commune, said: "The "Green Sunday" movement is regularly carried out by 15/15 women's unions with many meaningful activities such as: Cleaning, collecting waste, planting and taking care of 10 flower roads, maintaining and managing 18 women's self-managed roads. In addition, the Women's Union of the commune promotes propaganda for members to implement models of waste classification at source, turning waste into useful products; maintaining environmental self-management models; limiting indiscriminate burning of waste and dumping of waste in the wrong places."

Like the Women's Union of Dong Cuu commune, the "Green Sunday" movement has been maintained by the Hiep Hoa commune Youth Union over the past time. Accordingly, the commune's youth union members have organized hundreds of environmental sanitation campaigns, collected waste remaining on roads and residential areas; deployed models: "Anti-plastic waste", "Exchange recycled waste for trees", "Collect used batteries", "Bright-green-clean-beautiful youth route", "Youth flower road; cleaning up martyrs' cemeteries, roads, cultural houses in villages... In addition, the commune's Youth Union organized programs to collect scrap: plastic bottles, paper, scrap iron... to sell to raise charity funds for children in difficult circumstances. From the fund, the commune's Youth Union gave gifts to more than 50 students in difficult circumstances, worth more than 40 million VND. The above activities demonstrate the pioneering role and responsibility of the youth of Hiep Hoa commune in carrying out the task of protecting the environment in the locality.
Raising awareness of environmental protection
Responding to the "Green Sunday" movement launched by superiors, women's unions at all levels and youth unions in the province have carried out many practical activities, contributing to changing awareness and actions, creating a spreading influence in building a civilized lifestyle and protecting the environment in the community. Ms. Vu Thi An, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, said: "Green Sunday" is one of the typical and practical activities of women's unions at all levels, contributing to the implementation of the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean", the model "5 yes, 3 clean". From this movement, the awareness of environmental protection of each cadre and member is constantly raised".

Promoting the youth's strength in voluntary activities to protect the environment, build new rural areas and civilized urban areas, since the beginning of the year, the youth union force in the whole province has organized more than 500 environmental protection activities, attracting about 100,000 union members and young people to participate. In particular, the "Green Sunday" campaigns from the provincial to grassroots levels have carried out many practical activities such as: Dredging canals in the fields; maintaining and building 160 new streets and alleys with the criteria of bright - green - clean - beautiful - civilized - safe; painting 130 fences and cultural houses; participating in cleaning the environment at 500 public places; renovating and planting flowers on more than 60 inner-city roads, planting and caring for nearly 400,000 trees of all kinds.
Ms. Trinh Thi Thu Hoan, Head of the Environmental Management Department (Department of Agriculture and Environment) assessed: “Activities such as: Garbage collection, tree care, cleaning village roads and alleys have created a clear change in the quality of the urban and rural environment. Many points of waste accumulation have been treated; the system of village roads and residential areas is brighter, greener and cleaner; model streets are maintained sustainably thanks to the consensus of the people. Besides the meaning of landscape, "Green Sunday" also creates important social values, promotes solidarity, enhances community responsibility and spreads a positive lifestyle. This is an easy-to-implement, replicable, low-cost, and highly effective model”.
