On September 30, Mr. Dang Van Duong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Ngan Commune, Quang Tri Province - said that the same morning, dozens of students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities suddenly did not come to class.
Immediately after receiving the information, the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune directed the Department of Culture and Society to coordinate with the school's Board of Directors to directly inspect, clarify the cause and mobilize students to go to class so that their studies are not interrupted.
The incident happened just a few days after a mass poisoning at a school that left 40 students hospitalized for observation, making many parents angry.
According to the reporter’s investigation, many parents did not send their children to school that morning. Initial statistics showed that about 79 students were absent from school, of which 75 were boarding students.
It is worth noting that the students' absence was not due to the impact of storm No. 10, but stemmed from the parents' reaction to Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue - the school's vice principal, who is directly in charge of the boarding meals.
Parents believe that Ms. Hue's management and operation of the boarding school meals lacked transparency and did not ensure food safety and hygiene, which led to the mass poisoning incident that previously hospitalized 40 students.
"Who is right and who is wrong will be determined by the authorities. The locality's viewpoint is to handle the situation strictly, objectively, transparently, and absolutely not cover up for violating organizations and individuals; to ensure safety for students and a healthy educational environment" - Chairman of Kim Ngan Commune People's Committee Dang Van Duong emphasized.
Previously, on September 28, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province issued an official dispatch to students in the whole province to stay home from school to ensure safety during storm No. 10. As scheduled, on the morning of September 30, students had to return to school. However, at 8 o'clock, many classes were still empty because students did not come.
In another development, the Quang Tri Center for Disease Control (CDC) also took food samples that morning at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities to test to find the cause of food poisoning.

Tightening safety of boarding meals after 40 students were poisoned
Regarding the poisoning incident, all 40 students hospitalized after breakfast at school have been discharged and are in stable health. A representative of Le Thuy Regional General Hospital said the children are no longer in danger, but their families need to continue monitoring them.
After the incident, the Quang Tri Department of Education and Training requested schools in the area to review the entire process of organizing boarding meals, and at the same time strengthen supervision to ensure food safety. The education sector also emphasized the need to handle the situation promptly to avoid similar incidents from happening, affecting the health of students and the trust of parents.
