People often buy raw brocade fabric from highland villages, then dye it, embroider patterns, and sew it into dresses by themselves. In the costumes with red as the main color - the color symbolizing happiness, luck, and creating a lot of positive energy - the patterns are completely hand-embroidered with images close to life. Each costume not only reflects the rich cultural identity but is also a way for the Red Dao people to preserve traditional culture for future generations.
