Pong Drang strives to stabilize trade and service activities

The new Pong Drang Market is a key project built in accordance with the province's planning and investment policy, with a total investment of more than 37 billion VND. The project officially came into operation in September 2021, replacing the old market that had seriously degraded. Although it was expected to become a new commercial center, due to its failure to attract traders and consumers, this market fell into a state of sluggish business and was abandoned for many years.

To re-open the new market, Pong Drang commune has stepped up propaganda and encouraged traders to move to the new market; encouraged people to shop and trade at the market; and launched a campaign to deal with spontaneous and illegal business locations, especially in the old Pong Drang market area.

In particular, the commune leaders and functional departments have repeatedly held dialogues, listened to opinions, and resolved difficulties for small traders. At the same time, they have clearly explained legal regulations and support plans so that people can understand and agree on the process of rearranging commercial activities in the area.

On the side of HTC Market Investment, Construction and Business Company Limited - the project investor, also implemented many practical support policies, helping traders feel secure in switching to stable business at the new market.

Thanks to the drastic intervention of the government and timely support policies from investors, up to now, Pong Drang market has only about 30 small traders selling essential goods to meet the daily shopping needs of local people.

Besides promoting and supporting traders to return to business at the new market, the Commune People's Committee also actively cleared the old Pong Drang market to implement the green park project.

The green park project was approved by the People's Council of Krong Buk district (old) in Resolution No. 16/NQ-HDND dated December 27, 2022 and adjusted in Resolution No. 20/NQ-HDND dated June 5, 2025, with a total investment of 6.77 billion VND, with the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Department of Krong Buk district (old) as the investor. After implementing the two-level local government model, the project was handed over to the People's Committee of Pong Drang commune for direct management and implementation.

To date, 57/85 small traders at the old Pong Drang market have received support totaling VND2,049 billion. For those who have not yet received compensation, the People's Committee of Pong Drang commune is actively promoting and mobilizing small traders to understand the policy and create favorable conditions for the handover of the site.

According to the plan, the project will be implemented in November 2025. The Commune People's Committee has assigned specific tasks to each relevant unit, department, and branch to ensure the progress and effectiveness of the project.

According to Mr. Phan Hoang Lam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Pong Drang Commune, the construction of a green park is a correct policy, in line with the urban development orientation and new rural construction of the locality. This policy not only contributes to beautifying the appearance of the commune, creating a spacious community living space, but also contributes to improving the quality of life of the people.
