After years of rumors about a folding iPhone, Apple is preparing to make a major breakthrough in smartphone design.

This foldable iPhone will use a "Fold" design similar to products from Samsung, Honor, Google and Oppo. In particular, Apple is said to develop a folding screen with a nearly invisible crease - an important design element that the company focuses on.

The report says the foldable iPhone will have a 7.75-inch main display and a 5.49-inch outer display. However, these specs may not accurately reflect the product's shape, as the foldable iPhone will likely have a different aspect ratio than the Galaxy Z Fold, making it look more like a tablet than a traditional foldable device.

Huawei recently launched the Pura X foldable smartphone in China for 7,499 yuan (about 26.5 million VND). This is a product running on the HarmonyOS 5 operating system, developed after Huawei was banned from cooperating with US technology companies. Although many countries around the world cannot access the Pura X, the unique design of this product, including a 3.5-inch external screen and a 6.3-inch main screen, may be a visual look at the foldable iPhone.

Apple could learn from Pura X for its first foldable iPhone

The problem is, while the Pura X has an impressive design, it's smaller than what's rumored for the foldable iPhone. The Pura X is 91.7mm tall when folded, while the foldable iPhone is expected to be around 120.4mm tall to accommodate the larger screen size.

Instead, the Pura X’s design could help Apple solve its facial recognition problem. Some rumors suggest that the foldable iPhone will use Touch ID instead of Face ID due to limited space for the components of 3D facial recognition technology.

Finally, the Pura X is 15.1mm thick when folded, much thicker than other foldable products on the market. Meanwhile, Apple's foldable iPhone is expected to be thinner, providing a better user experience.
