The project was sponsored by the Joint Stock Company - Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Corporation (PVCFC, Ca Mau Fertilizer) with a total cost of 400 million VND, not only having practical significance for people's livelihood but also contributing to affirming the green development orientation, applying renewable energy to community life - especially in the locality where Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant is located and has been attached for more than a decade.

As a coastal commune, Khanh An has a river terrain and a scattered population. Although people's lives are improving, many roads still lack lighting systems, posing a potential risk of unsafe travel at night, especially during the rainy and stormy season.
From that reality, PVCFC has coordinated with Khanh An Commune People's Committee to implement a project to build a public lighting system using solar energy.
The project consists of 182 galvanized steel lamp posts, installed along the main roads of the commune, with 182 sets of 200W solar lights. The items were constructed, accepted, handed over and put into use in November 2025, creating a new look for Khanh An countryside - safer and more modern.
Clean energy – a more economical and sustainable solution
Unlike the lighting system using the national grid, solar lights operate completely independently, absorbing natural light during the day and automatically lighting up at night. Thanks to that, the project does not consume electricity, reducing operating costs and the risk of electrical incidents in the conditions of flooding and storms typical of river areas.
According to the construction unit, the system has an average lifespan of 8-10 years, and can store electricity for 2-3 rainy days, helping to save tens of millions of VND in electricity costs each year for the local budget. In addition, the use of renewable energy also contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions, reducing the load on the rural electricity system and raising community awareness of an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
A representative of Khanh An Commune People's Committee said: "The solar street light is a very meaningful project. Previously, the dark road made it difficult for people to travel, especially students and people working at night. Now, the road is brighter, safer, and the landscape is more spacious and clean."
Light contributes to changing the face of the new countryside
Since the street lights were put into use, the roads that were once deserted and dangerous at night have become brighter, safer, and more bustling. People have voluntarily cleaned and cleared the streets, and together with the local government, have created a “green – clean – beautiful” route.
The project not only ensures lighting needs but also helps the commune complete the lighting infrastructure criteria in the advanced new rural criteria set, while supporting security, order and traffic safety at night.
Businesses accompanying the community
As a leading fertilizer company and also a unit directly associated with Ca Mau, Ca Mau Fertilizer has always adhered to the goal of harmonious development between economic efficiency and social responsibility. Over the past 15 years, PVCFC has implemented many social security programs such as the "Golden Season Pearl" scholarship, building bridges - rural roads, supporting farmers to develop green production, and now clean energy projects to serve the community.

The lighting project in Khanh An is part of the “Lighting up the Countryside Roads” movement that Ca Mau Fertilizer is implementing in some localities in the Southwest and Southeast - Central Highlands regions. The goal is not only to light up the roads, but also to spread awareness of energy saving, improve the quality of life and promote environmentally friendly models.
PVCFC representative shared: “We consider this not only a civil project, but also a contribution to the movement, replicating the renewable energy lighting model in disadvantaged localities. This solution is both economical and sustainable, suitable for the natural conditions of Ca Mau.”
From a project worth 400 million VND, the results are not only bright roads every night, but also a clear change in community life: safer, more convenient and greener. The solar lighting project in Khanh An once again shows how Ca Mau Fertilizer accompanies the locality with specific actions, linking community benefits with sustainable development orientation.
