Representing historical witnesses, veteran Le Minh Khue, 83 years old, 63 years old in the Party, shared: I joined the army in May 1959, growing up as an artillery soldier. Throughout my military career, I had the honor of taking on the responsibility of Political Commissar of Regiment 78, Division 324, Corps 2, one of the units that directly participated in the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign. Our Battalion 16, during 6 years of fighting, contributed to the disintegration of the helicopter transport tactic - which was the "backbone" of the modern counter-attack strategy of the US on the Central battlefield.

Sharing about the battle in the Mau Than campaign in 1968, veteran Le Thanh Giang of Battalion 602 - Ba Dinh Battalion, said: "Our unit marched quickly according to orders. After 24 hours of launching the general offensive, Division 9 had to take up positions in the inner city of Saigon. We marched on foot, through the enemy's belt, and crossed the Saigon River within 48 hours. However, due to the terrain and the urgent time, only 40% of the regiment's forces were able to get to the right position. When the US discovered it, they mobilized elite troops to counterattack. Our forces suffered heavy losses, many comrades were sacrificed. However, the campaign dealt a fatal blow to the enemy."
