Soldiers help people from dangerous places to safety

On October 29, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army issued an urgent dispatch to many agencies and units of the entire army, requesting them to focus on responding to and overcoming the consequences of floods, inundations, and landslides in the Central region, including being ready to conduct search and rescue flights, and transport food and provisions when ordered by the Ministry of National Defense .

The dispatch stated that, implementing the Prime Minister 's direction at the meeting on the morning of October 29 on the deployment of response and quick recovery work after heavy rains and floods in the Central region, the General Staff requested agencies and units to strictly maintain on-duty regimes, proactively monitor and grasp the situation of rains and floods; promptly mobilize the highest forces and means to help localities evacuate people from dangerous areas to safe places.

Along with supporting food, overcoming the consequences of floods and stabilizing people's lives, agencies and units must inspect and promptly move units out of areas at high risk of landslides and unsafety; ensuring the safety of forces participating in performing tasks.

Military Region 4 and Military Region 5 directed military commands of provinces and cities to strictly maintain the regulations on duty at Call Center 112; coordinate with local authorities and units to mobilize maximum forces and means to help people respond to and overcome the consequences of floods.

The units promptly provided food and provisions to people in flooded and isolated areas, preventing people from lacking temporary shelter or going hungry; proactively cleaned up mud and soil, and sanitized the environment, prioritizing medical facilities, schools, offices, and residential areas...

The Air Defense - Air Force and the 18th Army Corps inspected and reviewed plans, organized forces and vehicles to be ready to conduct search and rescue flights, and transport food and provisions when ordered by the Ministry of National Defense.

The Chemical Corps and the Military Medical Department (General Department of Logistics and Engineering) coordinated with local authorities to mobilize forces and means to disinfect, sterilize, clean the environment, and prevent epidemics in areas affected by rain and floods.

The Information and Communications Corps and the Military Telecommunications Industry Group ensure communications, transmission lines and other necessary conditions to serve the Government, the Prime Minister and the Ministry of National Defense in directing and operating civil defense activities.

The Navy, Corps 34, Border Guard, Vietnam Coast Guard, Artillery - Missile Command and other Service Branches and Corps direct their subordinate units to mobilize forces and means to help localities where they are stationed and where they carry out tasks to overcome the consequences of floods, inundation, and landslides when requested by localities.

The General Departments of Logistics and Engineering, Defense Industry and General Department 2, according to their functions and tasks, shall strengthen direction, urge and inspect subordinate units to do a good job of responding to and overcoming consequences of floods, inundations and landslides.

The forces ensure the safety of warehouses, factories, weapons and equipment; ensure good logistics and technical support for disaster response; proactively coordinate, provide and promptly transport rescue supplies and equipment to help localities respond and overcome consequences.
