This is an encouraging result for Hanoi tennis and is the basis for department managers to evaluate their forces, invest long-term, and prepare for further goals in the coming time.

Asserting leading position
The 2025 National Team Tennis Championship will take place from April 7 to 15. The tournament will bring together 12 teams with more than 100 professional tennis players from provinces, cities and industries. The Hanoi tennis team will participate in the tournament with 8 athletes.
Notably, with impressive performances from both male and female players, the Hanoi team excellently won the overall first place with 2 gold medals in the mixed and women's team events, 1 silver medal in the mixed and women's team event, 1 bronze medal in the men's team event, affirming its position as a top unit in the current Vietnamese tennis scene.
Head of the Hanoi Tennis Department (Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center) and General Secretary of the Vietnam Tennis Federation, Tran Dai Nghia, said that this is the first time in many years that Hanoi has won both championships at this national tournament. The recent National Team Tennis Championship had many strong units participating such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Army, Becamex Binh Duong, Hai Dang Club (Tay Ninh), or Xuan Phuc Club (Ninh Binh) ... so winning the first place overall was not easy. The above achievement is the result of a period of hard training and the desire to win when participating in the tournament of the athletes of the Hanoi tennis team.
Deputy Director of Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center Lai Phuc Loc said that this is the result of Hanoi tennis's selection and training of young athletes for more than 12-13 years. Hanoi tennis currently has young athletes with experience and equal quality such as: Nguyen Thi Mai Linh, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan, Dam Vu Ngoc Tram (female) and Nguyen Dac Tien, Vu Ha Minh Duc (male)... With this positive professional mark, it will be easier for the Vietnamese tennis team to select athletes to compete, aiming for higher achievements in international tournaments such as: ITF Davis Cup Group III (July 2025); SEA Games 33 in Thailand (December 2025).
Aim to achieve success in major arenas
According to Tran Dai Nghia, Head of the Hanoi Tennis Department (Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center), currently, Vietnamese tennis is facing difficulties in terms of personnel because the key generation of athletes has retired from competition, and the next generation still lacks experience. With the announcement of tennis players Ly Hoang Nam and Trinh Linh Giang leaving the team and stopping playing professional tennis, the strength of Vietnamese tennis is certainly weakened. Although the women's team can still rely on overseas Vietnamese athletes such as Savanna Ly Nguyen and Sophia Huynh Tran Ngoc Nhi.
Mr. Tran Dai Nghia said that to have an athlete in the top 300 ATP ( world rankings) like Ly Hoang Nam, it is undeniable that the right investment from the athlete's management unit, at first Becamex Binh Duong and later Hai Dang Club (Tay Ninh) was required. If the budget was used, Ly Hoang Nam would only be able to compete in one international tournament a year, but with socialized resources, Nam can compete continuously in international tournaments to accumulate points. Only then can Vietnamese athletes enter the seed group, pass the qualifying round to compete in higher level tournaments.
"To prepare the force for the upcoming international arena goals, the department will consult with the center's leaders, creating conditions for young athletes to train and compete internationally, increasing the level of competition and accumulating experience," said Mr. Tran Dai Nghia.
According to Director of Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center Dinh Van Luyen, Hanoi has a group of young athletes (20-23 years old), talented such as Nguyen Thi Mai Linh, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan, Dam Vu Ngoc Tram, Nguyen Dac Tien, Vu Ha Minh Duc... who are qualified to contribute to the national team to compete for medals in the Southeast Asian arena. These will be strong factors contributing to the Vietnam tennis team's achievement of winning medals at the 33rd SEA Games - 2025.
To create conditions for athletes to develop their talents, accumulate competition experience, and achieve high results at the 33rd SEA Games, the Center will create all conditions for training equipment, nutrition, hiring experts; support young athletes to train abroad. Along with that, efforts will be made to find socialized funding sources, increase bonuses for athletes to help athletes have more motivation, and achieve many achievements at continental and world playgrounds.
Hopefully, with proper and proper investment, young athletes of Hanoi tennis will contribute to the Vietnamese tennis team to make their mark on the international and regional arenas, first of all at the 33rd SEA Games - 2025 in Thailand.
