Promoting Pho and Vietnamese culinary culture throughout Europe

Vietnamese culinary culture in general, and pho in particular, is one of the prides of the national cultural heritage, contributing to creating Vietnamese identity in the eyes of international friends.

On the afternoon of November 14, in Hanoi, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs ) coordinated with the We Love Pho Association to announce the event "European Pho Week."

Mr. Mai Hai Lam, a Polish expatriate, Chairman of the We Love Pho Association, said that "European Pho Week" will be held from December 8-14, 2025, in Europe, in response to "Pho Day" December 12, with the desire to promote important culinary culture, contribute to elevating Vietnamese cuisine and spreading traditional Vietnamese Pho around the world .

Within the framework of the program, the overseas Vietnamese community and international friends can visit business locations to have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of pho dishes such as traditional beef pho, chicken pho, pho cuon, pho tron, pho chay... along with many modern variations suitable for international tastes.

Here, participating units are encouraged to create spaces to display images and documents about the history of the formation and development of Vietnamese pho; simulate a rustic pho stall in Vietnam; perform live pho cooking; interact with famous artisans and chefs...

"In recent years, Vietnamese pho has been voted many times as one of the delicious and famous dishes in the world: Top 30 most delicious dishes in the world in 2018, top 20 most delicious dishes in the world in 2021, top 100 most delicious and famous dishes in the world in 2022... Therefore, the program aims to promote Vietnamese culinary culture to the world, contributing to strengthening the connection of the Vietnamese community abroad, and at the same time introducing one of the unique culinary symbols of Vietnam to international friends," Mr. Mai Hai Lam shared.

Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien said that more than 20 years since implementing Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW of the Politburo on work with overseas Vietnamese, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has always strived to act as a bridge, strengthening the connection between the overseas Vietnamese community and the Fatherland.

From about 4.5 million people in 109 countries and territories in 2016, there are now more than 6 million people living and working in 130 countries and territories.

In particular, culture is always a solid bridge, helping to connect Vietnamese communities around the world and enhance understanding and exchange between people. Culinary culture in general, and Pho in particular, is one of the prides of the national cultural heritage, contributing to creating Vietnamese identity in the eyes of international friends.

Chairman Nguyen Trung Kien expressed his joy that the We Love Pho Association is connected by people who come together with love for their homeland, love for culinary culture, especially pho; with diverse and rich activities, good influence and prestige in Europe.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien supports the initiative to organize "European Pho Week" and hopes that the event will be successful, creating a widespread effect throughout Europe and the world.

The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will accompany and support associations and groups in maintaining and promoting the beauty of Vietnamese culture, including the We Love Pho Association.

The We Love Pho Association was established in Brussels in June 2025, bringing together overseas Vietnamese representatives from all over Europe (Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the UK...), with the goal of promoting and preserving Vietnamese culinary cultural values, with pho as the central symbol.

We Love Pho Association hopes to connect the Vietnamese community abroad and local people through cuisine, sharing together about Vietnam, a country rich in national identity, modern and civilized./.
