Weather on January 15: Sunny in the North, about to welcome strong cold air

Currently (November 15), the strong cold air mass is still moving south.

It is forecasted that around November 17, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast and North Central regions, then affect the Northwest and North Central regions. On land, strong Northeast winds will be level 3-4, and coastal areas will be level 4-5.

From November 17-18, there will be scattered rain in the Northern region.

From the night of November 17, the weather in the North and North Central regions will turn cold, with some areas in the high mountains of the North experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature during this cold spell in the North and North Central regions will generally be between 12-15 degrees Celsius, and some places in the high mountains will be below 10 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi area, from the night of November 17, the weather will turn cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 13-15 degrees Celsius.

Due to the influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, there is widespread heavy rain in the area from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa.

Regarding heavy rain in the Central region, on November 15, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City will have rain, showers and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall from 10-30mm, locally heavy rain over 50mm.

From the night of November 15 to the night of November 16, the area from South Quang Tri to Da Nang City, the eastern part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 100-200mm, locally over 300mm.

The area from Ha Tinh to Northern Quang Tri has moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall of 60-100mm, locally over 200mm.

In the West, provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak have rain, moderate rain with common rainfall from 30-60mm, locally heavy rain over 120mm.

Warning of risk of heavy rain (>150mm/3h).

From November 17 to the end of the night of November 18, the areas of Hue City, Da Nang City, the East of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces will have heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 200-450mm, locally over 550mm; the areas from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri, the East of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces will have 100-250mm, locally over 350mm; the West of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will have rainfall ranging from 40-80mm, locally over 150mm.

From November 19, widespread heavy rain continued to occur in Da Nang City and provinces from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa.

In addition, from November 16-18, the Southern region will have moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall from 50-100mm, locally over 150mm.

At sea, from the evening and night of November 17, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind gradually increases to level 7, sometimes level 8, gusting to level 9, rough seas, waves 3.0-5.0m high; in the North East Sea, the Northeast wind gradually increases to level 7-8, gusting to level 9-10, rough seas, waves 4.0-6.0m high; from November 18, in the area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the Northeast wind gradually increases to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 4.0-6.0m high.
