Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested that the results related to traffic safety and order, existing problems and weaknesses be assessed, and responsibilities be clearly identified; at the same time, directions and tasks from now until the end of the year should be clearly defined.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that, in the context of the ongoing revolution in restructuring and perfecting the organizational apparatus, the organization of traffic safety committees also needs to be reorganized and perfected to ensure effectiveness. At the same time, it is necessary to define the tasks and responsibilities of each ministry, sector and locality to reduce traffic accidents and reduce human and property damage caused by traffic accidents. In addition, it is necessary to innovate the way of thinking and working to increase efficiency and spread. The goals and solutions must be specific and practical in the second quarter and the coming time.

Quang Nam is among 34 localities with a decrease in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents compared to 2024 and is one of 4 provinces with a decrease of over 40% in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents.

A representative of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee said that in the first 5 months of 2025, the traffic accident situation in Quang Nam province was controlled and significantly reduced in all 3 criteria. Specifically, the whole province had 97 accidents, killing 36 people and injuring 90 people.

Compared to the same period in 2024, traffic accidents decreased by 81 cases (-45.5%), 34 deaths (-48.5%) and 73 injuries (-44.7%); no traffic accidents with particularly serious consequences occurred. Quang Nam also shared experiences in reducing traffic accidents in the first quarter that the province has implemented.

Quang Nam also proposed that the Government direct the Ministry of Construction to consider and have a policy to expand National Highway 1 (QL1), synchronizing the cross-section of the entire QL1 route through the province. At the same time, research and invest in expanding the roadbed and road surface of QL1 at locations in front of schools, locations identified as bus and coach stops; research and have appropriate solutions to enhance traffic safety at intersections between the old QL1 and bypasses, intersections with local roads where traffic accidents frequently occur...
