Quang Nam sets up a team to inspect the situation of fake drugs and fake functional foods.

This afternoon, May 16, Mr. Mai Van Muoi, Director of the Department of Health of Quang Nam province, said that in the face of the complicated situation of production and trade of fake drugs, fake functional foods, fake milk and cosmetics of unknown origin, seriously affecting people's health, he signed a decision to establish an interdisciplinary inspection team in the whole province.

The Internal Political Security Department of Quang Nam Provincial Police coordinated with functional agencies to inspect and rectify the situation of counterfeit drugs.

According to the decision, the inspection team is responsible for conducting surprise inspections of establishments producing and trading in drugs, cosmetics, and functional foods as well as medical examination and treatment facilities regarding compliance with legal regulations in the fields of pharmaceuticals, food safety, cosmetics, and medical examination and treatment.

The inspection period is 15 days (from May 13) in all districts, towns and cities of Quang Nam province.

The inspection team includes representatives of the Provincial Police Department's Internal Political Security Department, the Department of Health Inspectorate, the Department of Medical and Pharmaceutical Affairs, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department, the Drug - Cosmetic - Food Testing Center and representatives of the District People's Committee.

The main objective is to inspect compliance with legal regulations in the fields of pharmaceuticals, food safety, cosmetics and medical examination and treatment; promptly detect and strictly handle acts of fraud, production and trade of counterfeit goods, fake goods and goods of unknown origin.

According to Mr. Mai Van Muoi, this is one of the specific actions implemented under the direction of the Prime Minister in Official Dispatch No. 40 and 41/CD-TTg dated April 17. At the same time, it shows the strong participation of the health sector of Quang Nam province in protecting public health, fighting against commercial fraud and counterfeit and poor quality goods.
